Vernie Ruth Long, 87, of Southside passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
She was born on July 12, 1931 in the Hutchison Mountain Community to Lee Bailey Muns and Hester Louise (Harris) Muns.
Ruth was a caring and supportive Christian woman and a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and loved her family. She was a teletype technician and retired from AT&T after over 36 years of service, she also enjoyed quilting and gardening.
Survivors include her two sons, Bailey Long of North Little Rock and Terry (Tammy) Long of Southside; two daughters, Vernie Erman of Austin and Kathy Reed of Little Rock; fifteen grandchildren, David (Patti) Roberts, Brian Roberts, Billy (Norma) Long, Dr. Jennifer (Greg) Perry, Dr. Shauna Jo (Donny) Wilson, Josh (Sara) Erman, Randell (Tidy) Long, Becky Long, Frankie Long, Teri Long, Susan Long, Misty Wilson, Sherri Douhitt, Joe (Patty) Erman, and John Erman; twenty-six great-grandchildren, Lane Erman, Adam Roberts, Brook Erman, Cheyenne Erman, Joshua Erman, Adoria Roberts, David Roberts, James Long, Mitchell Moody, Abriel Perry, Talyan Long, Paxton Long, Hannah Long, Dalton Long, Billy Ray Long, Hailey Long, D.J. Wilson, Marie Wilson, Josh Davidson, and Courtney Davidson; one brother, Jimmy (Jean) Muns of Concord; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Long; two sisters, Lee Imogene Garner and Georgia Mason; daughter-in-law, Julia Long; son-in-law, Joe Erman; great-great-grandson, Zaeyon Keith Sims; niece, Pansy Muns Brock; and nephew, Brian Dale Mason.
Pallbearers are David Roberts, Billy Long, Josh Erman, Randell Long, Frankie Long, and Adam Roberts. Honorary pallbearer will be Brian Roberts.
Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 in the Roller-Crouch Chapel with Scotty Harris and Ricky Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Egner Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Long was a genuinely good person. She was also a great role model. She always put her family first. She will be missed. I am sorry for your loss.
Vernie and family , my heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time. Vernie just knowing you , I know your mom was a very special lady. You and the kids are in my thoughts , Love you all.
