Emma Lou "Ducy" Brown

of North Little Rock, AR

August 14, 1932 - May 2, 2019

Emma Lou ''Ducy'' Brown, 86, from North Little Rock, passed away on May 2, 2019 at Woodland Hills Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born August 14, 1932 in El Paso, Arkansas and is preceded in death by husband James Allen Brown, parents Boone and Mamie (Riley) Drennan, and sister Martha Belle Jenkins.
Growing up on a farm in El Paso, Ducy loved being outdoors, especially working on the farm with her father. After graduating from Beebe high school, she worked several jobs prior to meeting her husband in Searcy, the late J Allen Brown. They were married July 20, 1951 and moved to Great Falls, Montana before returning to Arkansas to live in North Little Rock.

Ducy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She loved spending time with family, crossword puzzles, taking care of grandchildren, golf and cheering for the Razorbacks. Until her health condition made it impossible, she was an active member of the Levy Church of Christ.

Ducy was a real estate agent for many years and made friends wherever she went. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, sense of humor, positive attitude, compassion and kindness to others.

She is survived by her four children: Jim A Brown of Gainesville, GA; Susan Brown of Richardson, TX; Jan Crowley (Glen) of Cabot and Les Brown of Sherwood: six grandchildren; Toni Mathews (Peter), Jessica Stone, Nick Stone, Kristen Vozzella (David), Eliza Richards (Jeremy), Eric Crowley: nine great grandchildren: Sister Debra Williams (Bill): Brother-in-law Charles Jenkins.

Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Roller Owners Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd, North Little Rock. Visitation will begin at 1PM. Burial to follow at Grissard Cemetery in El Paso, Arkansas.

The Brown family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Jacksonville and to Kindred Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.

"Mom, you have given so much and asked for so little in return. Thank you for always being there for us, for teaching us, listening to us, helping and forgiving us, loving us unconditionally, and always, always paving the way for us. We will work hard to reach the standard you set. Farewell sweet mom. You were simply magnificent."

Dear Brown Family,

I'm sorry as well as saddened to learn about the passing of your mother.

Although years have gone by since I last saw her, I still recount many fond memories. She was such an upbeat, energetic and positive person. I deeply appreciated that she was always so kind and welcoming to me and I truly enjoyed spending time with her.

She was someone that I admired and always will. I will forever cherish and be appreciative of the memories.

Sending my heartfelt condolences to all of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Trudy

I was fortunate to meet Mrs. Brown a few years ago, and during our visits since then, four things were consistent. She was always sweet, uncomplaining, witty, and never let me leave without making plans for us to go golfing. She was a such a pleasure to be around. My condolences to the family.
