Woodrow "Woody" Franklin Castleberry

of Batesville, AR

November 7, 1951 - April 16, 2019

Woodrow Franklin "Woody" Castleberry, 67, of Batesville passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.

He was born on November 7, 1951, in Newport, Arkansas, to Woodrow Lorn Castleberry and Martha (Hine) Castleberry.

Woody enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid bass fisherman and duck hunter. He was passionate about golf and all Razorback athletics. Most of all, he loved making memories with his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters. He valued "doing things" over "having things" and he applied that mantra well throughout his life, with countless fishing and hunting trips, ski trips, and golf tournaments with his friends and family.

Woody was an active community leader in Batesville for over 30 years, where he chaired the boards of White River Health System, UACCB, and the Batesville Chamber of Commerce, as well as served on countless other boards and committees.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Melissa (Dillahunty) Castleberry; two sons, Casey Castleberry (Annette) and Lindsey Castleberry (Deann), both of Batesville; brother, Ken Castleberry (Jamie) of Little Rock; sister, Nan Cox (Ed) of Niceville, Florida; sister-in-law, Becky Castleberry of Hot Springs; two granddaughters, Annaleigh Castleberry and Libby Castleberry; as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Castleberry; and step-mother, Virginia Castleberry.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Batesville, with reception immediately following in the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the UACCB Foundation PO Box 3350 Batesville, AR. 72503 or the White River Health System Foundation PO Box 2197 Batesville, AR. 72503.
