of Magazine, AR
August 31, 1947 - February 27, 2019
Marilyn Sue Jones, 71 was born in Paris, Arkansas on August 31, 1947. She passed from this life quite unexpectedly on February 27, 2019 in Paris, Arkansas.
With the exception of four years at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville to get a degree in Home Economics and two years teaching home economics in eastern Arkansas, she spent her entire life on the family farm near Driggs, Arkansas. She loved the views of Mt. Magazine and Calico Mountain. She loved the wide open spaces and all of the animals that lived there so she gave up teaching, working at factories in Paris and at the Senior Citizens Center to look after her parents and worked very hard on the farm to keep her dream alive. In 2007, she fell and broke her hip and this started a series of health issues. Somewhere along the line, she found time to make beautiful knit and crochet projects.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor E. and Merle (Ellington) Jones and by her nephew, Guinn Rigsby. She is survived by her sister Wilene Rigsby and husband Kelly of North Little Rock; two nephews, Stephen Rigsby and wife Gwen of Conway and Dwane Rigsby and wife Jo Ann of Plano, Texas; one grandnephew, Chris Rigsby of Conway; one grandniece, Alexis Stearns of Longview, Texas; one aunt, Pauline Longley of Fort Smith and one aunt-in-law, Gladene Freeman Ellington of Dallas, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Booneville Funeral Service Chapel. A graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at Ellington Cemetery in Magazine under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Ellington Cemetery Maintenance Fund.
Sending our prayers for the family through this time.
