Homer Oliver Bolner, 92, of Austin, TX, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Central Texas Veteran's Health Care System in Temple TX. He was born January 13, 1927 in Wardville, OK, to Albert N. and Lucille (Find) Bolner. Mr. Bolner served in the United States Army during the WWII era. He was active in the liberation of Germany, where he found the people there to be very nice and appreciative of the service men there. He was the owner of a roofing company, a member of the American Legion and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife of 36 years, Ethel Marie (Burton) Bolner; sons, Earl Landers, Kevin Dement; daughter, Darla Varvel; 4 brothers, Doyle, Paul, Fred and Keith; 1 sister, Zelda.
Survivors include sons, Ken (Conne) Dement, Keath Dement (Thomas Valentine); daughters, Bonnie (Phillip) Hann and Claire (Richard) Sterling; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 11:00 am, with Bishop Brent Rougeau officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Monette Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 am until time of service.
Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home are in charge of services.
Homer and Ethel were my neighbors for 20-+ years and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. I lived alone and Homer looked out for me and helped me without ever being asked. They were both precious people and are missed very much.
Mr. Homer was a member of our Monette American Legion Post 136 for over 20 years. He was a wonderful and friendly man.
