of Maumelle, AR
July 16, 1959 - February 16, 2019
Paul Anthony Veach, MD, 59 of Maumelle, AR entered into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 16, 2019 after his courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 16,1959 in Marietta, OH to Clinton and Edith Veach and was the youngest of six children. He grew up in a small Ohio town on the Ohio River. In high school, he excelled in both academics and sports.
He entered the United States Air Force in 1976 and served at Robins AFB, Warner Robins, GA as a Paramedic and was on the Presidential Support team of President Jimmy Carter. He met his wife Rachel, while attending Bible Baptist Temple and they married in August of 1980. He was later transferred to Shaw AFB in Sumter, SC where he was attached to the 17th tactical fighter squadron. During his service at Shaw he deployed to Norway for a search and rescue mission, and to Saudi Arabia for desert rescue operations.
He was honorably discharged in 1988, and entered the University of South Carolina, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He was accepted into the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, graduating as class president in his senior year and accepted to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Emergency Medicine Residency Program where he became board certified as an Emergency Room Physician and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His career in medicine brought him much joy. He loved rural people and spent the majority of his career in hospital emergency departments as the Medical Director in several rural facilities. He served as the Chief Medical Officer with the Schumacher Group and as Senior Vice President of Clinical affairs for Hospital Physicians Partners as an Emergency Department Efficiency Expert. He served as one of two Counselors for Arkansas chapter of American College of Emergency Physicians.
God was the center of his life and he loved and lived his life by the Bible. He was a devoted Christian serving God for his entire adult life. He taught adult Sunday School for 25 years and served as a minister of music for 20 years. He recorded 4 music CDs with his wife. He authored a travel guide to Israel and two books of poetry; ''All I Hold Dear'' and ''Living Waters or Broken Cisterns''. His fourth book ''A Walk in the Valley of Baca'' will be published soon.
He was a man of great humor and delighted in making people laugh. After reading the book, ''The Greatest Miracle'', by Og Mandino, his mission in life was to help those who were broken and hurting, and called himself a ''rag picker'' of people. His life way mark was, ''I am first a servant, living my life in the service of others. I will live a life of integrity, seeking to honor God, my family, and my country. I will live a passionate life and seek to encourage others. Through a close relationship with God I will put aside fear and anger and instead, live a life filled with gratitude and humor. I am a rag picker.'' He enjoyed Razorback football and was a Broyles Silver donor for many years. One of his passions in life was travel and he saw much of the world, but his greatest love was Israel and her people. He hosted more than 15 tours to Israel. He was a loving husband and father working to provide for his family monetarily but most importantly spiritually.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Rachel and his 5 children, a son in law and a daughter in law. Regina Kirkman (Samuel), Jonathan (Rachel Anne Marie), Laura, Stephen, and Jessica. His 5 siblings and their spouses, Michael (Margaret), David (Peggy), Clinton (Angela), Karen Schon (Tom), Kathy Omer, his Mother-in-law Annette Oliver, brother-in-law's, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Edith Veach.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 20, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR. Burial will follow at Riverwood Memorial Garden in Maumelle. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 19 from 6:00 P.M.. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the compassionate nurses, doctors and employees of Baptist Hospital Emergency Department, CARTI Little Rock, and Arkansas Hospice for your love and care of our dear husband, father, and brother during his courageous battle. We would also like to thank the Maumelle Fire Department and MEMS for their kind assistance.
He lived a life full of great blessings, and we will have his love in our hearts always and forever.
Dearest Rachel, just found this today, and I must say this one broke my heart. I know we have not been “active†friends for many years, but you and Paul have always been tucked away in my heart as great loves of my life. I occasionally get the urge to hear your beautiful voices and look you up. Today, finding this information has set me back. Please know I will always love the memories of our friendship and would absolutely love to try to arrange to see you if you are ever visiting family in Georgia and have time. I realize because of the length of time that has passed since this loss that you may never see this, but if the Lord leads you to it, I’ll know it was meant to be. God bless you always.
Our family is keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers. It is with deepest sympathy that I write this. I was personally so grateful for Dr. Veach. He was a person of great humility and dignity. Having worked with him I was so impressed with his love for his family but most of all his Love for Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed but in confidence I write that I know I will see him again on that day.

Dear Rachel, family and cousins,
Our hearts go out to you all. We know you will especially miss Paul, and there will always be a void in your lives that can never be replaced.
Paul was one of my younger cousins whom distance physically made it difficult to get to know. I am very grateful that in recent years, that was made possible. What an amazing, and impressive person he was. I am so proud to say he was my cousin. His life was truly full of great blessings and being around him was contagious. I have his book of poetry and am rereading it to enjoy a part of him that will always remain with me.
Sending you all an armful of love and hugs.
Cousin Linda and Curt

Sorry for your loss, the Veach family was special to everyone here in Belpre ,
The Veach family....A generation of family to be honored! Parents who trained and prayed over their children, and children who have honored God to a level to be praised! Paul is now free from the pain and battles of earthly life and leaping with praise in perfect eternal life...a testimony of value and joy. Victory to be honored and cherished! My heart is honestly with your family..HIS strength is perfect! THAT is a treasure beyond imagination!!!! I lift prayer for his beautiful family at this celebration of Paul's life that is now beginning and will not end. As I finish these words my mind goes back to the Hymn I last played for your mommy as she sang "Down From His Glory"....A blessing and sweet event that I'm sure she and Paul are now singing together for the first time in many years. I lift my heart in prayer for each of you and my hands to Praise our Father.
Sorry for your loss, prayers for you and family.I knew Paul from school and graduated with him, and also my mother knew your mother, Edith, from Calvary Community Church way back.

Dear Rachel, Please know you have been in our daily prayers. We pray the dear Lord will give you His grace and strength as you grieve the loss of Paul. However, may I remind you it is but for a brief time. We all shall join him in Glory one day soon.

We will greatly miss Bro Paul,he was a great friend and brother in the lord. We sure appreciate all that he did and the trip to Israel with Him we wish we could be there, we are in Florida helping a preacher.
I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Veach at FCMC and shared many laughs with him. He will be missed. Prayers going out for his family as loved ones.
Such a wonderful soul. My prayers and condolences to his family.
My grandma Billie Veach would go to Arkansas to visit her niece and would come home and tell me about how much she enjoyed the visit and listening to the family sing. Passing thru Arkansas on a Sunday night we visited some friends and went to church with them. To my surprise Paul was leading singing and he and Rachel sang a special. I went to them later to ask about their family and found out he was my second cousin. So happy I was able to meet the family and stay in contact thru fb. Our prayers are with you may the Lord comfort and give you strength in the days and months ahead. Wish we could have known each other more.
I use to go to church with Dr. Veach at Heritage Baptist Temple where he was the music director he was such a great man and will be gratefully missed
I’m so sorry for the passing of your dear loved one Mr. Veach and send my condolences. May your wonderful memories and joyful times you all shared together comfort your hearts. May the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 be a source of comfort for you. It says: “Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials.” May God comfort you through caring friends, warm memories, and moments of peace.
