Jerry Wayne Duncan

of Damascus, AR

April 16, 1948 - January 13, 2019

Jerry Wayne Duncan, 70, of Damascus, went to be with the Lord, January 13, 2019. He was born April 16, 1948 in Quitman, Arkansas the second child of six children born to the late Jarrell and Johnnie Mae Duncan. Jerry was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Damascus. Those who knew Jerry know how passionate he was about his community and his family. Jerry had a love for antique cars, fishing, talking and visiting with his many friends at the old Gulf Station and at Jerry's Auto Sales. One of the things he loved most of all was driving around the farm checking his cattle. He was devoted, hardworking, and a loving husband and father. He was strong in his will and straight in his ways following good Christian standards and passing those ideals down to his children, grandchildren, and everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by everyone he touched. He led an exemplary life of the love described in Matthew 22: 39; ''Thou Shalt love thy neighbor as thyself''. Jerry's greatest joy was his Lord and Savior, and his greatest accomplishment and love, was his marriage of 52 years to his wife Glynda.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Glynda Duncan, two sons, Jeff (Angel) Duncan of Mayflower and Lonnie (Ginger) Duncan of Rabbit Ridge, seven grandchildren, Tyler Duncan, Tori (Philip) Biggers, Austin (Stephanie) Duncan, Dausen Duncan, Mason (Maranda) Duncan, Andrew Duncan, and Angelgrace Duncan, two great grandchildren, Everly Duncan and Wylie Biggers, two sisters, Linda (Loy) Bartlett and Paulette (Larry) Mayfield, three brothers, Danny Duncan and Mandy, Sammy (Donna) Duncan and Randy (Diana) Duncan, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00- 8:00PM Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Damascus. Burial will follow at Blackwell Cemetery in Bee Branch, Arkansas.

Not just because me him and the other friends, he would buy biscuits and gravy for us boys,, would always pay for everybody all the time! He gave me hope in people and love for life! So many stories could.be told. THE BESY

Jerry was a great Christian role model. He was like a father figure to me. He mentored me and gave me hope. I am forever grateful of the fond memories I have from a gentle giant. He will forever be missed. The harmonies we sang together, the road trips in the his wrecker or the many times we sat and broke bread together. Until we meet again on the other shore.

Duncan family,

I am so sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. He was an important part of the Damascus community. He sold me my first car. He made very little money because he wanted to help me out! I respected him for the kind of man he was and the kindness he always showed to others. The world needs more men like him. Im sorry that I could not pay my respects in person due to work obligations, but wanted you to know how much Jerry will be missed by me and many others.

Jerry Duncan, a mans man, a true friend, the kindest heart truly awesome to say I've been a part of his most beautiful presence here on this Earth. He helped me learn how to work even more so with my father, a blessing truly looking back. I remember detailing his personal vehicle, he would never want me to put to much time to it. But I would do my best in the short time he allowed and he would brag on me for days for it. So much so much, truly a giver not expecting anything in return, as a true giver is. Biscuits and gravy will always be remembered. Jerry taught me how to cut my eggs over easy and mix them with my gravy and biscuits. Something I do to this day. I remember being there with lestal Mr Duncan and Jerry, what a beautiful blessing. Working there with Sr JJ taught me a bit about work too, I'll tell you what a 70 year old man out working a 15 year old. Putting up and tearing down barbwire fence. He taught me about getting it done, talking about and looking at it won't accomplish nothing. I remember eating breakfast at the house on the highway side tords the carwash right of the car lot porch looking out tords the road like we all use too do every morning, drinking coffee speaking about what projects we got going on. Snacking eating watermelon, sometimes Richard day would come by and Harlan would say ok time to go to work and we would head of to the body shop. I learned how to pull a goosneck trailer pulling scraps tords the junkyard. Learned how to cold start engine's. My first two cars, I believe the Nissan would be running today, no better car could someone want, not a truck, but it still runs, lol. I remember the morning at work after Harlan one the races that weekend. Jerry turned white as a ghost when Harlan showed him the trouphy, and Jerry kept saying I'll be doged, Jerry was always proud of him and all yours, he was looking down in the parking lot holding the trouphy. Just when I was boxing, and I would get in a small collum in the paper Jerry was a breath of fresh air in this greasy selfish world, I love all my grandparents, consisting with JJ and maridith, I might of got that wrong but she was a sweet heart, made a great dish of biscuits and gravy, the beautiful haswells and Jerry is right thier.
