My Grandfather was a wonderful man. He always made sure his family was taken care of and we never went hungry (even when he burnt the hamburgers ;). I remember a time when he saw me with my mom and little sister at a restaurant and paid for our meal when we weren’t expecting it. He was also very good at woodworking. I’ll cherish all the furniture he made for us over the years that he gave as Christmas gifts. He was always quiet (like me), and always friendly. I only have 1 memory of him losing his temper and that was when a vending machine wouldn’t give him his soda. I’ll miss him and all the family holiday gatherings he hosted. It won’t be the same without him. I have nothing but great childhood memories with my Grandfather. I was never ready for this day to come. I love you, Grampa.

Beloved is the word I think of when I think of Harry. If he ever made an enemy, I'd be very surprised. He was quiet and unassuming, but his heart was enormous. He was the definition of a patriarch, everyone knew they could depend on him, always. This knowledge extended to not only family but also friends and community. Whether it was a helping hand or just a bit of wisdom, he was someone you knew you could count on. He was also funny, without trying to be, like the zig-zag pattern he left in the lawn while chasing a snake with his riding mower, or his near-manic obsession with making the best time on a road trip. I love you, Harry. I'm sure I never told you. I hope you knew.
