Sylvia Dee Duncan

of Bauxite, AR

July 6, 1937 - January 9, 2019

Sylvia Dee Styles Duncan, 81, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in her home at Sardis, AR. She was born July 6, 1937 in Sardis to the late Joseph Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Styles. She was a cheerleader and played basketball at Bryant High School and graduated in 1955. She was a cheerleader and participated in archery at the College of the Ozarks, where she met the Captain of the football team, Bill Duncan, her future husband. They were married on August 25, 1956.

They moved to Gruver, Texas and resided there for 38 years. Her love of children led her to open a Preschool/Daycare in which she cared for and instructed children for over 30 years. During this time she not only taught Sunday School at Gruver Church of Christ but was also actively involved in the Gruver community helping those in need.

In 1994 she moved back to Sardis to care for her mother. After her mother's death in 2000, she remained in Sardis and was active in the North Little Rock Church of Christ and River Street Church of Christ. Her love of her family and others demonstrated her servant's heart and reflected her Christian faith.

Sylvia Dee is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Duncan; her son, Danny Duncan; siblings, AV ''Bud'' (Dorothy) Styles and Mary (Bob) Wagner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary Styles; siblings, Leamon Styles, James Doyle (''JD'') Styles, Elsie Restum, Lucy Nutt, Tracy Styles, Joil (''Jody'') Styles, Billy Joe Styles, and infant brother and sister.

A special appreciation of thanks to all of Sylvia's caregivers.

Visitation will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home, 306 South Main, Benton, AR 72015. Funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. officiated by Dennis Gage.

Dear Danny, I am so sorry to hear about your mother and daddy. To lose one is horrible, but to lose both of them so close to each other would be nearly unbearable. I have very fond memories of both of them from their days in Gruver. Your mother tried to teach me in Kindegarten and your dad tried to teach me how to play golf. They were very patient. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Nanette Cluck

I love Sylvia like a sister! She was so positive and loved people. She loved her family and was so proud of Danny. I have sweet memories of our time we had together and will never forget her and her laugh and that beautiful smile. She loved her Lord and I know for sure where she is now! I will cherish my memories and never forget her. So glad she got to go back home to Ark to the place she loved and had a great life there with her family. Goodby for now sweet Sylvia and will see you on the other side. Love you forever!

Our deepest condolences to the family. When our loved ones fall asleep in death, words alone cannot ease the pain of our loss. Our loving God Jehovah understands how we feel and he comforts us by means of his word the Bible. Psalm 147:3 reads He (God) heals the brokenhearted; He binds up their wounds. We can also find comfort from Jesus words at John 5:28-29 “The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out”. May these scriptures bring comfort and calmness of heart to you during the difficult days ahead.
