John Lester Selvidge, 79, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home. John was born in Providence, Arkansas on May 23, 1939 to the late John Wesley and Doni May (House) Selvidge. John was a veteran in the United States Army National Guard and a faithful member of School Avenue Church of Christ. He had a passion for reading and enjoyed watching television; however, his greatest passion was his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Helen (Rice) Selvidge of the home; one son, Wayne Selvidge of Mountain View, Arkansas; one daughter, Lucy Sloan and husband Aubrey of Mountain View, Arkansas; three brothers, Raymond Selvidge and wife Susan Jean of Mountain View, Arkansas, Alonzo Richard Forrester and wife Debbie of Benton, Missouri, and Chester Forrester; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one uncle William House; one niece Rebecca Davis and husband Russell; two great-nephews, Alex Myers and Dustin Davis; brother-in-law, Butch Stezowski and sister-in-law, Jean Stezowski, along with many extended family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Doni May (House) Selvidge; sister, Willastine Selvidge; brother, Ellis Selvidge; one nephew, Raymond Wesley Selvidge, brother-in-law, Jim Rice and Vada Selvidge.

Visitation will take place on Friday, December 21, 2018 at School Avenue Church of Christ in Mountain View, Arkansas from 1:00-2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 PM with Minister Finis Brewer officiating. Interment will follow the service at Farris Cemetery in Onia, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Terry House, Tommy House, T.J. Jones, Alexander Myers, Cody Chitwood, and Tommy Cleveland. Honorary pallbearers are Alonzo Richard Forrester, Chester Forrester, and John Canvass.

Roller Coffman Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.
