Roy Lee Burroughs, better known as Cotton, of Manila, AR., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, in Jonesboro, AR. Cotton was born on September 19, 1928, in Damascus, AR, to Jim Ed and Nancy May Burroughs. Cotton retired at age 83 from commercial fishing, a profession he truly loved, and had done for most of his adult life. He was an avid duck hunter, and hunted well into his mid 80's. Cotton was a very respected and admired man throughout his community. He was a devoted husband, loving and proud father, and grandfather. Mr. Burroughs was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Johnston Burroughs, and grandson, Joey Don Taylor. He leaves behind his 4 children: Wanda Jo (Donnie) Taylor of Trumann, AR., Gary (Lucia) Burroughs of Scottsdale, AZ., Lee (Sandy) Burroughs of Trenton, FL., and Lisa (Ed) Lemke of Armorel, AR. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. 2 brothers: J.C. Burroughs, W.H. Burroughs, and 1 sister: Anna Beth Carpenter, all of Damascus, AR., and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 15, at The Sand Springs Baptist Church in Gravesville, AR., from 10-11, with a graveside service, officiated by Ricky Burroughs, at the church's cemetery immediately following. Pallbearers will be Donnie Taylor, Gary Burroughs, Ed Lemke, Chris Burroughs, J.T. Harris, and Todd Wright.
