Leone Hudson

of Flippin, AR

March 27, 1925 - December 9, 2018

Leone Burch Hudson was born at home about 2 miles from Flippin, Arkansas, March 27, 1925 to Henry H. and Ollie Wooten Burch. Leone lost her mother to an early death when she was 11 years old in 1936. She lost her father to death in 1969, a younger brother, Bill Gene Burch, age 52 in 1984, and an older brother, Lonnie Burch, age 98, in 2016. Leone is survived by one sister, Inez Burch Hurst, age 97, of Flippin.

Leone was married to Hobert Dain Hudson on May 10, 1942 at Flippin, Arkansas and shared 57 years together before his death to Alzheimer's Disease in 1999. Leone gave birth to identical twin boys, Donald Roy and Ronald Coy, on February 27, 1948, and another son Charles Dane on December 9, 1953.

With roots always in Marion County, the couple and young family traveled extensively across the mid and western United States following jobs anywhere work was available, especially back and forth to Yakima, Washington where they worked the apple harvest. In 1960 Leone decided the boys needed to settle and remain in one school until graduation. Flippin, Arkansas became her permanent home from that time forward. Leone unselfishly worked long days to help the family. She worked at Kenzie Kraft Boats and Gay Apparel in Cotter before hiring on at Mar-Bax Shirt Factory and then finishing her career with 23 years of service at Baxter Laboratories. After retiring early because of concern for her ailing husband, Leone spent several years in total devotion to his care before his passing on August 2, 1999. After his death she filled her time by working as an aide at Flippin Preschool and babysitting.

Leone was a devoted Christian wife and mother, leading by example as well as instruction. She always made time to talk anyone through difficult times sharing her love while helping in any way she could. ''Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren rise up and call her blessed''.

Leone was devastated by her son Donald's long illness from Lyme's Disease and death on February 19, 2017. Leone is survived by Donald's wife, Karen; Ronald and wife, Anna Sue; Dane and wife, Pam, all of Flippin. Leone was blessed with 8 grandchildren all still living and visited her often, Chad (Anna) Hudson of Mountain Home; Kymm (Randy) Alexander of Maumelle; Angie (Shane) Nix of Flippin; Eric (Hollie) Hudson of Springdale; Darcy (Trey) Fisher of Calhoun, Louisiana; Cassie Bell of Flippin; Caleb (Danielle) Hudson of Flippin; Clay (Lindsey) Hudson of Gassville. Leone was surrounded and loved by 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Leone was very active and made friends wherever she went, showing compassion for all. She loved all of her family and defended them without question. But her greatest love was for God. She dedicated her life to Christ at the age of 24 and never wavered. She attended Church of Christ services 3 times a week as long as her health allowed and continued to attend Sunday morning services at Riverside Church of Christ until the morning of her stroke on November 18. She handled this malady with dignity, still expressing concern over others having to care for her until she slipped away into her heavenly home on December 9, 2018 at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 12 days.

Leone left a great legacy and impact on her family and those who loved her. She will be remembered and missed by all.
