Maurice Burks, 103 was born February 3, 1915 in Waldo, Arkansas to Ethel and Sam McKinley. She went to be with her Lord on November 17, 2018.
Maurice was preceded in death by her husband Henry Clay White of 42 years and her sister Sammye Lee Cruce. She was married to Basil Burks who also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter Ann Followell (husband Will) two grandsons, Bryan Chad Price (wife Yi Ping) of Spring, TX and Clay Daniel Price of Raleigh, NC. She also had one granddaughter, Alexia Price. Mrs. Burks lived in Searcy Arkansas for 49 years. Ten of those years were at Harding Place where she enjoyed the activities and made many friends. She was a member of the College Church of Christ. Maurice came to live with her daughter in Porter, TX in 2011.
She attended the Kingwood Church of Christ in Kingwood, TX.
She was an example of a godly wife, mother, hospitable home-maker and so much more. What a lovely 103 years! Marked by a gracious strength of character, Maurice deeply loved God, His church, the Word, her family and friends. You never talked to her very long without hearing about her love of God. She wanted to tell everyone she met about Jesus and His sacrifice. One of her favorite hymns was ''Jesus Jesus Jesus'' and ''He's My Everything''.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Burks requested donations to Searcy Children's Homes, Inc.
A memorial service for Mrs. Burks will be held at Roller Daniel December 13th at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are invited.
