Frances Marie Bowling Holt was born January 2, 1919, in Salem, Arkansas, and passed away peacefully on December 6, 2018, at the age of 99 years and 11 months.

Frances was the second of thirteen children born to John Tollie and Mary Ethel Chadwick Bowling. Growing up in Salem, Arkansas, Frances graduated from Salem High School. In 1939 she graduated from the Nell Shoemaker School of Beauty in Little Rock, Arkansas. During World War II, Frances worked at the Arkansas Ordnance Plant in Jacksonville, Arkansas, where she received the Army-Navy Production Award for Excellence in War Production on February 3, 1943.

On May 4, 1946, she married Roy Elbert Holt in Little Rock, Arkansas. Roy and Frances were the parents of two daughters, Mary Alice and Rebecca. Over the years, the family lived in several Arkansas cities including Little Rock, North Little Rock, and West Helena, eventually moving to Jonesboro in 1961. Shortly after moving to Jonesboro, the family joined Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Anyone who knew Frances heard her stories of working as a beauty operator, her time working at the Arkansas Ordnance Plant, and times spent with her siblings on Bowling Hill in Salem, Arkansas.

Frances' husband, Roy, passed away on March 27, 1990, after over 43 years of marriage.

Besides her husband, Frances was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Charles Porter Bowling, John Cecil Bowling, Coy Lee Bowling, Clarence Calvin Bowling, and Buddy Lamar Bowling; two sisters, Nova Mae Gaines and Betty Sue Johnson; great-grandson, Andrew Cole Fox; and son-in-law, Dr. Frank Minirth.

Survivors include her two daughters, Mary Alice Minirth and Rebecca "Becky" (Mike) Singleton; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Kyle) Fox, Andy (Maggie) Singleton, Dr. Renee Minirth (Dr. Stephen) Huddleston, Katie (Rob) Sutton, Carrie Minirth (Luke) Chalk, Jill (Mike) Tennyson, Ali Minirth (James) Harris, and Liz Minirth; nine great grandchildren, Hannah Fox, Hope Fox, Lena Singleton, Anna Singleton, Marcus Singleton, Noah Chalk, Theo Huddleston, Sophia Huddleston, and Olive Harris; two sisters, Ola Faye Veazey and Beatrice Nadine Rough; three brothers, Shelby Lynn Bowling, James Bradley (Judy) Bowling, and Bobby Ray (Wanda) Bowling; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018, 1:00PM, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Ave, Jonesboro, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Visitation will precede services from 12:00PM '''' 1:00PM at the funeral home.
