Ardith Irene McKinney

of Webb City, MO

August 27, 1919 - November 16, 2018

Ardith McKinney, age 99 of Webb City, Missouri passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 in Joplin, Missouri. Ardith was born August 27, 1919 in Dewey, Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland and Nora Lucinda (Boyd) Pittman.
She married John A. McKinney in Caney, Kansas on March 22, 1942. Mrs. McKinney was a 1937 graduate of Dewey High School. After graduating, she attended secretarial school in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. During WWII, she worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. After the war, Ardith started her career in the banking industry in Caney, Kansas and later in the Chicago area.
While the couple resided in the Chicago area, they made many trips to Canada to go fishing together. Mrs. McKinney's favorite things to do were read, especially murder mysteries, and cook gourmet foods. In 1983 after she and her husband retired, the couple moved to Mountain Home. The excellent library and the fishing were a few of the many reasons the couple chose this area. Mrs. McKinney spent many years and lots of her time helping with Mountain Home Food Basket and First Christian Church of Mountain Home, where she was a member.
Mrs. McKinney is survived by a sister, Donna Sheridan of Tulsa, Ok.; a niece, Cindy Shead of Carl Junction, Mo., and three nephews: Mike Byfield and Robert Byfield, both of Bartlesville, Ok., and David Geurin of Dewey, Ok.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Grover and Nora; two sisters: Betty Byfield and Rosalie Geurin, and brother, Charles Pittman.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Baxter Memorial Gardens with Ralph Shead officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial contributions be given in Mrs. McKinney's name to the Mountain Home Food Basket, 1341 Eastside Center Court, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653.

Mrs. McKinney was a dear soul. Faithful could have been her middle name. Her sweet husband, John was her perfect match in showing how to live a Christian life. God bless the family.

I'm saddened to hear of Ardith's passing. Our sympathy and condolences to her Family. My wife and I knew Ardith and John from First Christian Church, and Twin Lakes Gun Club. What wonderful, kind and loving people they were! They were so nice to our young son! . . always encouraging him, and engaging him in conversation! They devoted a huge amount of time and effort in faithfully serving the Church (Deacon, Treasurer, volunteers for most any event!) and the Gun Club! I think they may have been among the "founding members" of the gun club(?) . . but, in any case, they served as Secretary/Treasurer for many, many years!! They both lived their Christian faith in their daily lives, and were great examples for all of us to follow! They will both be greatly missed by all who knew them!

With great sadness we learned of Aunt Ardie's death. With her passing, our family becomes one smaller.
