Helen Lea Burris, 90, passed away at her home near Egypt on Friday, November 16, 2018, after a lengthy illness. She was born October 17, 1928 in Walnut Ridge, reared in Lawrence County and was the only child of Frank and Faye Whitmire, both of whom predeceased her. She was married to Jimmy Burris, who passed in 2004, for 58 years.
Helen retired from General Electric after many years of service; she was also a retired farmer. She spent her retirement years gladly following the activities of her grandchildren as well as her great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her three children: Jimmie Faye Sneed, Frankie (Bobby) Hogue, both of Jonesboro; Eddie Burris of the Egypt community; grandchildren, Dr. Lauren (Richie) Harmon-Grantham, Dr. Brett (Brooke) Burris, both of Jonesboro; Ms. Beth Burris of Bono; great-grandchildren Mason Burris of Bono; Jackson and Hayden Harmon of Jonesboro; Bentley and Bryant Burris, both of Jonesboro; and a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 2:00pm at Calvin Crossing Cemetery near Alicia with Bro. Dub Holt officiating.
Visitation will be at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro Sunday, November 18, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
