December 21, 1926 - November 6, 2018

Loweta Ward Turney, 91, went home to glory on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Born December 21, 1926, in England, Arkansas, she lived in Conway for forty-two years after moving from Texas.

She was employed for several years at Ott-Longing Insurance & Real Estate and later at Production Credit Association, both in Conway. She also was on staff at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, for a number of years before retiring in Arkansas.

Loweta was a member of the Ward Family Singers, a group originating in Conway and performing in Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas and Oklahoma before the group ceased public performances in 2007. The singing group also produced two ''records'' for their parents prior to their deaths, then four additional studio album projects over the years. Their Family Foundation continues to provide academic scholarships at Central Baptist College.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mamie Ward, and five siblings, Marketa Ward Evans, John L. Ward, Bobby M. Ward, Joe D. Ward and Gary S. (Butch) Ward.

Celebrating Loweta's memory are her children: Cherie Turney Haynes (Wayne) of Dallas, Texas, David Lloyd Turney (Ann) and Renee Turney Hale (Truman) of Conway; grandchildren P.J. Pierce (Kathleen), Amber Pierce Arnold (Ben), Corey Hale (Faith), Graham Hale (Leslie), and Casey Hale; great-grandchildren Lola Pierce, Beckett Pierce, Bishop Arnold, Violet Arnold, Ava Grace Hale, Edy Rose Hale, Joy Tatum Hale, and Charles Truman Hale Also surviving are her brother, Bill Ward (Emelene) of Castle Rock, Colorado, and sister, Judy Ward Roach (Billy Jack), of Conway.

Loweta's family expressed special appreciation for the caring staff at Heritage Living Center in Conway, where she lived the last several years.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, at Central Baptist Church on Dave Ward Drive. The pastor, Rev. Don Chandler, will be in charge of the service, and the sermon will be delivered by Loweta's grandson, Rev. Graham Hale of Jacksonville, Texas. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church's mission projects, including Food Pantry, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Samaritan's Purse Shoebox Ministry and Christmas Tag Ministry, and to the Salvation Army.
