Lyle Lloyd Roop, 83, of Conway passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018. He was born Thursday May 30, 1935 in Buffalo, Iowa to the late Charles F. and Mary Jane Roop.
Lyle graduated from High School in Springfield, MO. and was employed by Newberry Department Store for many years, opening and working in several different states and new stores. He later was employed as manager of Super-X Drug Stores and in 1971 came to a new store in Stuttgart, AR. Lyle loved singing and was active in the Back Porch Players in Stuttgart. He lived in Stuttgart until 1998 when he retired from Lennox and moved to Conway. He married Maxine Havens in 1996 and they opened Conway Sewing Center in 1999 as Bernina dealers and had the store for several years. Lyle was active in his church at Four Winds and enjoyed living in Conway and was active in the Conway Men's Choir for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Maxine Havens Roop; one sister Loretta Clay of Willard, Missouri, and his five children, Dr. Randy Roop (Brenda) of Missoula, Montana, Rhonda Fojt of College Station,Texas, Russell Roop (Silke) of Dime Box, Texas and Rene Lockhart of Euless, Texas and Ryan Roop (Georgia) of Searcy, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Four Winds Church for Matamoros Children's Home at PO Box 10915 Conway, Arkansas 72034
Funeral service will be 1:00pm, Friday, November 16th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Pastor Randy Lewis officiating, Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Thoughts and prayers are shared with the Roop family at the loss of their father. I have many fond memories of Mr. Lyle and his smiling face when he worked at Super-X. May the love of God surround you all.
