Pauline Elizabeth Teague

of Mountain View, AR

December 14, 1921 - November 3, 2018

Pauline Elizabeth Beckham Teague, 96, of Mountain View, passed away November 3, 2018 in Mountain View.

Pauline was born December 14, 1921 on the Rocky Bayou Beckham family farm located 4 miles east of Mountain View in the home built by her grandfather in 1852. She was the daughter of Dow Malone Beckham and Retha Poff Beckham. She was married to Orlando Teague for 65 years until his death in 2009.

Pauline was known for her love of God, family, and education. She was raised in Flatwoods Baptist church where her father was a charter member. She was baptized in Rocky Bayou. Pauline would tell memories of growing up and the family being late for church on Sunday mornings because they had to get the pigs out of the field. When they would finally arrive, the preacher would say ''Now we can start, Brother Beckham is here''. Pauline went on to join Emmanuel Baptist Church in Southside where she served as church secretary and led and taught the youth choir. She joined the First Baptist church in Mountain View after her retirement.

She obtained a teaching certificate at the age of 18 and began her career at Crossroads. She then went on to receive her Bachelor's degree from Arkansas College {now Lyon} and her Master's degree from ASU while raising her family. There were 18 years between her oldest and youngest children because ''I was trying to go to college and work it all in''. She taught in Floral, Oil Trough, and Batesville, retiring as a librarian from the Batesville School District in 1987. When ask if there was anything she wished she could have done Pauline replied: ''Nothing I pretty much did everything I wanted''.

Pauline is survived by children Sharon Teague May and husband Billy of Oklahoma City, OK, Dale Teague and wife Lynne of Batesville, daughter-in-law, Dianne Teague of Batesville and sister-in-law, Bernice Beckham of Mountain View. She is also survived by grandchildren, Anissa Lott, Laura Combs, Kelley Teague Bunch, and John Teague as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orlando Teague, her daughter Judy Kay Teague, her son Paul Teague, and her siblings, Blake Beckham, Chester Beckham, Veda B. Wallace, and Frances Beckham Osborne.

A reception will be held at First Baptist Church in Mountain View on November 6th at 10:00 am with funeral services following at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Batesville, AR.
