of Mountain Home,

July 11, 1946 - October 31, 2018

Judith Ramey Sharp, 72
Judi died at Hospice House on October 31, 2018.
She was born on the Mountain Home Square July 11, 1946, to Ray Ramey Jr. and his wife Ellen. The Ramey family was prominent retailers for many years on the south side of the square during Mountain Home's early development operating the Ben Franklin Store and the Ramey Company.
During her schooling, Judi was a member of an advanced education group in the 7th grade called ''7X.'' She was a fixture on the honor roll throughout school and was named to the Arkansas All State Band. She had sufficient academic credits and, with a recommendation from Mountain Home schools, entered Arkansas Polytechnic College a year before high school graduation. Her first semester of college included being named on the ''Dean's List'' for academic achievement.
She met her life's partner, Francis Dale (Sonny) Sharp and their 18 month courtship began with a question ''Are you for real?'' They married (eloped) on May 18, 1963 and began a remarkable journey together. Upon both graduating from Arkansas Tech in 1967 they traveled extensively (Sonny's Work) for the Federal government. Assignments included Texas, Kentucky, Europe, Colorado, Missouri, Washington D.C., and Kwajalein, Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Along the way Judi taught school ranging from elementary to adult. She also never stopped learning and became proficient in early personal computers. She would go on to work as a computer programmer for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington D.C. She became heavily involved in the advancing technology of the Internet and World Wide Web. She developed a passion for genealogy that she carried with her throughout her life. Upon returning to Mountain Home she became President of the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society and was prominent in local research. She also was one of the first Website developers in the Twin Lakes area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ellen Ramey, sister, Anne Ramey, and son, Steven Sharp. She is survived by her husband, Sonny Sharp, daughter Julie Summa and granddaughter Bridget Summa, of Lathrop, Missouri, granddaughter, Samantha Sharp and grandson, Wyatt Sharp of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Throughout her life, Judi was widely recognized by her distinctive smile. In the last days at Hospice House she was still able to greet her closest friends with a grin that melted us all. She will be terribly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Roller Funeral Home Saturday, November 03, 2018 from 11-2 PM with family present from 12-2 PM. A graveside service for family and closest friends will follow at East Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Baxter County Library Foundation. Sonny and family, I have great memories of your beautiful lady and you can bet that Gil does (did) too. And I know she would want us to keep them in our hearts. She will be missed, but not forgotten. Love and peace to you all.
