Kay Pierce

of Conway, AR

November 13, 1946 - October 27, 2018

Marilyn Kay Stanton Pierce of Conway, Arkansas, passed from this life on October 27, 2018, surrounded by family after a brave battle with cancer. .

Daughter of Nevada and Cletis Stanton of Conway, Kay was born November 13, 1946. Her childhood was an uncomplicated countryside life in Faulkner County. The old-fashioned values learned there in her early years marked her good character throughout her life. She was known for her ability to ''make a piano talk,'' and played at her small country church. She graduated from Greenbrier High School and after earning a Master's of Education at the University of Central Arkansas, she returned to teach English at Greenbrier for 37 years. She found great joy in teaching and cherished her time spent with students whose lives she shared and shaped in the classroom. Her love of teaching was recognized as she was honored as Teacher of the Year.

After retirement, she devoted her love and time to family and friends. She treasured most those days spent with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her ''Kay Kay.'' She inspired all with her ready smile, selfless kindness, and generosity.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her niece Laura Stanton. She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Robert Pierce; daughter, Lindsey Pierce Hubbard (Steven); brother, Gary Stanton; niece Shelly Stanton Moon (Pat); great-niece Maegan Mathis; great nephew, Wes Mathis, and the true joy of her life, her grandchildren; Briley Kay Whitehead, Denver Pierce Whitehead, and Jaxson John Hubbard.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Conway and the Retired Teachers of Faulkner County.

Funeral services will be Monday October 29, 2018 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway. Visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Ms. Sterling--as I knew her in school-- was my most beloved teacher, and the first adult to encourage me to be a writer. (I'm a full-time Indie author of 59 books). She said, "You have talent, Kelli. Please keep writing." She was always so supportive of everything I turned in. I will be dedicating my current work in progress to her. Rest in Peace, Ms. Sterling. You made a huge difference in my life.

Class of 1975, she was my English and Literature teacher; she was so loving and kind. Never a raised voice, always willing to do whatever it took to get us all to learn. She was my Favorite teacher! So sorry for her being sick and not able to spend more time here on earth; but she loved all of you so much. Heaven has truly received another Angel, she will be right beside you all times, and she has a renewed Body, no more pain, you will be reunited with her again. Other engagements don’t allow for me to be there; but I would if I could. God bless all of you; you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in New Health Mrs. Angel🙏❤️❤️❤️

Wow, Robert. My heart goes out to you at this time. Your wife was a pretty lady; obviously, an outstanding teacher and loved by many.
One thing is certain, being aware of the inevitable due to an illness of someone we love, there's not a preparedness for the reality of that person's absence.
I will be among others praying for your peace and comfort. May God bless you and help you feel His presence in the coming days.

Kay was our neighbor many years ago on Susan Lane in Conway. She was always such a sweet person and friend. She was the first "babysitter" for our daughter Jennifer when Jenn was just a couple of months old. This was before Kay had her precious Lindsey, and she was so nervous, she asked her sweet mother, Mrs. Stanton, to come help her. As I left my tiny girl for the first time, I knew she was in excellent and loving hands. We both moved away from Susan Lane shortly after that but have enjoyed visiting and catching up when we'd meet around town. My thoughts and prayers will be for all her family left to miss her as I rejoice for her healing in Heaven.
