Joyce Ann Goodale Black, 75, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at St. Bernards Medical Center, from a long complicated medical history. She was born November 16, 1942 in St. Francis, KS to Max Alvin and Esther Delphine Goodale. Mrs. Black taught for over 20 years in the Arkansas School system in Cross County, as well as the Nettleton Intermediate Center. She held a Master's Degree in counseling, and a BS in early childhood education. Mrs. Black was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member of Suzanna Group. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her book club meetings once a month, and actively volunteered at her church. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Sam Goodale; and a sister, Ruth Bracelin.
Joyce leaves behind her husband of 55 years, William Edward Black; a son, Patrick Edward Black of Jonesboro; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Black Danley, of TN; grandchildren, Madeline Danley Kaylor, James M. Danley IV, Emily Danley, Victoria Black Childs, Heather Coble, and Meagan Coble; great grandchildren, Liliana Neer, Lucy Neer and Judah Childs; and a brother, Randy Goodale.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Tuesday from 6 pm to 8 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with John Miles and Bryson Childs as speakers. Speakers will begin at 7 pm.
