April 14, 1933 - October 22, 2018

Shortly after midnight on the morning of October 22, 2018, Jervis Flake ''Jerry'' Conway, 85, of Avilla, Ark., left behind his failing body and flew into the presence of perfect Love. His family is quite certain that he is walking the streets of Heaven with a supply of sweet treats to share with saints and angels.
Jerry was born April 14, 1933, in Vilonia, Ark., to William D. Conway and Julia Flake Conway. He was very proud to have been a descendant of the 1st and 5th Governors of the State of Arkansas. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly serve his country during the Korean War. Following his military service, Jerry worked with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, retiring after 33 years.
Until the last week of his life, Jerry continued to dress as the gentleman he was. Even when sitting at home in his recliner, he was dressed in a suit, along with fine jewelry on his fingers and wrist, and usually a lapel pin or two on his coat. He made friends everywhere he went. From his favorite watering hole or the diner he visited regularly, to the bank he trusted and the Wal-Mart store where he shopped daily, Jerry was known by the employees and other customers as one of the kindest men alive. He always left sweet treats for the staff and was known for leaving generous tips for every server on the shift.
'' Quite the ladies' man, Jerry had a hard time settling down until he fell for Judy Gibbs. Their love lasted 28 years, until her death in 2014. Jerry never fully recovered from her loss.
Serving his family was second nature to Jerry. In addition to his tender care of Judy during her last years, he was a primary caregiver to his beloved sister, Nettie, prior to her death. He could always be counted on to run errands, bring supplies, or give funds to help family and friends with various projects or needs.
Jerry loved fishing, hunting, collecting and shooting guns, and shooting the breeze while sipping a cold one with his many friends at Iron Horse or Castle Valley or Frontier Diner. He loved to travel and was especially fond of Jamaica. Above all else, he loved his family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Silas Paul Conway and William Lloyd Conway; his sisters, Claudia Verell Conway and Nettie Lora Conway Vizzier; his grandson, Dale Martin; and his long-time companion and best friend, Judith L. Gibbs.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Jerry Wayne Martin (LaDonna) of Romance, Ark., Kimala G. Bright (Jason) of Avilla, Ark., and James Eric Conway (Lesli) of Mabelvale, Ark.; ten grandchildren, Angela Oberlag (Jason), Taylor Barnett, Savannah Bright, Brandon Conway, Jace Conway (Paula), Erica Conway, Savannah Mayernick, Memphis Conway, Kelly Martin (David) and Chester Martin (Gretchen); and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Ellie Mae Conway Martin, of North Little Rock, Ark., and by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will long cherish his memory.
Jerry left as he lived: loved beyond measure and surrounded by his adoring family. #ConwayStrong

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".

To the Family, so sorry for your loss. Hope you will be comforted in knowing that Jervis has the prospect of being resurrected, healthy (in the flesh), to Paradise Earth just as Jehovah God has promised. In fact, the vast majority will enjoy everlasting life right here on earth as God had intended from the beginning. God's Kingdom will do this under the rule of Jesus Christ. READ John 5:28, 29, Job 14:14, 15,Psalms 37:29,Matthew 6:9,10, Matthew 5:5 and Revelation 21:2-4

So beautifully portrayed of who he was and the legacy he wanted to leave - KINDNESS. I have met him on several occasions and he was the ultimate gentleman. He believed in taking care of others before himself. My thoughts, prayers and love go out to all of his family ... we have lost a true soldier! May he rest in peace in heaven. Thank you, Jerry, for your kindness towards others! You will be missed my many!

Rest In Peace Mr Conway. The few times we met left the impression of a true gentleman. Not a better legacy can you leave but the memory of kindness and generosity.

I worked many years with Jerry at the Highway Dept in Computer Services back in the good old days. He was such a sweetheart! I think I will miss his hugs the most! I don't think he ever met a person that he couldn't call friend. I'm retired now too and I didnt get to see him often but when I did it was like it was yesterday. We just picked back up and shared each others lives. I'll truly miss him but I know I'll see him again someday! Rest now Jerry in the arms of our Lord! Be in peace my friend! Be in peace!

Thank you for sharing your dad with us at the Frontier Diner. His kindness to us over these many years has meant more than Mr Jerry ever knew. He was father, gran dfather, but most of all our friend. Mr Jerry will be missed by all who knew him. We pray for your comfort during this difficult time.
