I remember Johnny well when I worked in the Radio Shop for AG&FC. Johnny would come by and visit whether or not he and his partner Terry McGuire had a radio problem. He was a prankster, but we pulled one back on him. The two came by for a minor problem and we fixed them up. We had a long roll of electrical tape that I saw them eyeballing. In between having to crawl in the under the dash, I noticed that roll of tape appeared in the truck seat. I just grinned to myself and grabbed the expensive set of binoculars from the holder on the roof and put them where the tape had set in the bay. As they were leaving we saw the two look down at the tape in the seat and grin real big. About fifteen minutes later a frantic call to the radio operator asked to speak to one of the techs. I went to the radio and asked if I could help. Johnny asked if we had seen a set of binoculars. I replied "10-4, they are over on the table where the roll of tape had been". Relief and chagrin was in Johnny's voice when he replied and said they'd be by shortly to pick them up.

Johnny will be missed. He was a great officer and good guy to have around.

I’m a Retired CONWAY Police Officer and had the great privilege of meeting Johnny through work. He was always a great gentleman to be around and always had a smile on his face! If we needed assistance he would be the first there for us if he was close to the city! He was a great Game Warden and even a better man and Christian!! He will be missed but never forgotten by this state, Faulkner County and Conway PD!! God Bless his family and close friends during this time! RIP Johnny you may take it easy now!!💙🙏🏼🙏🏼💙

JJ was a true mentor to all Wildlife Officers, including me. I was fortunate enough to border Faulkner county which allowed me to work with JJ often. He was one of a kind. He was so laid back, easy going, but God help you if you got cross with him. I only saw him get mad at a couple of people in the years I worked with him and they knew instantly that they had bad a bad decision to smart off to JJ. He was great! He will be missed by me and all who knew him. Thanks JJ for always being there.
