January 6, 1922 - October 27, 2013
Our precious mother, Christine Hays, age 91, went to be with the Lord God that she loved so much on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Saline Memorial Hospital as the result of a sudden infection in her blood.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Verla Withers of Fountain Hill; her husband of 52 years, Tommie Hays; a great grandchild, Bailey Zimmerman; her brothers, Gaston and Sonny Boy Withers, and her sisters, Hester Chandler, Earlene Aldred, and Frances Withers.
She left behind her children, TL Hays (June), Phillip Hays (Peggy), Sharon Lovett (Larry), and Melissa Mitcham (Eddie); her 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild; her sister Dot Able; her brothers, Bobby, Billy, and Jimmy Withers; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.
Mom was a faithful member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church for 44 years, where she touched the lives of many women through leading Bible Study, and her own personal ministries. She was also a member of the Keenagers, and the Senior Adult Choir. Mom worked for the Little Rock Housing Authority for 27 years, where her walk with the Lord was a great testimony to all those she met.
Funeral services for Mom will be Friday, November 1, 2013 at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. The service will start at 2 p.m., and family visitation will be immediately before the service from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. in the foyer of the church. The service will be officiated by Bro. Dave Hughey, and Dr. Paul Sanders. Her burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of Geyer Springs 1st Baptist Church or to the Church at Rock Creek Children's Home. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the amazing staff of Saline Memorial Hospital, where Mom and our entire family received excellent, compassionate care during her short stay there.
Sharon,
I'm sorry to hear about your Mother. I know that you and the rest of her family will miss her.
Sharon,
My heart goes out to you and your family in the loss of your Mother. I lost my Mother in 2009 and I still miss her everyday. The joy is that she still speaks to me through all the wonderful memories. i wish you comfort and peace. Ann
Sharon, this one is for you - I met you at BFS and I met Christine at BFS, sometimes in the 70's and you and I have crossed paths on other occasions. When I started Geyer Springs in the 90's, it was there I learned for the first time that Christine was your mother. I had never put the two of you together. What a wonderful revelation. I have had more time at Geyer Springs to get to know Christine and have loved being around her. She showed the rest of us in her daily living what it means to be a Christian lady. The last time I talked with her, I told her I loved her and would continue to pray for her and her family. I promise you the same thing.
Christine was my Sunday School teacher when we joined Geyer Springs in 1979 and for several years after. She always demonstrated such a strong belief that God was in control and we could trust Him to see us through any problems we may have. That wisdom, she shared with me, has seen me through so many of life's situations. I will always remember her and thank God for her influence in my life.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Hays family. I loved Christine and I think the reason I did was I felt like she loved me back. I will miss her very much as I know all of you will. God Bless!
Mrs Hays was a wonderful and special Lady:
I knew her in my younger days: She was so
friendly and so thoughtful: I loved to hear her
talk. I will always remember her kindness.

I am so blessed to have been one among many who was influenced and guided and blessed by Christine Hays. From the early days when the family first came to Geyer Springs and Melissa and I became lifelong friends, through when she was my mom's manager at the Housing Authority and all the way to the present as she has been a lasting friend of my Mom's and my entire family. What a special woman who led and supported and raised a special family. May God bless each of you and comfort you in the loss of this great servant of God.
So sorry to hear of your loss. I know you'll miss her and her wisdom.
Your precious Mother was one of the inspirations of my childhood at Gaines Street church. I know that you will miss her and grieve for her. But I also know that she is reunited with your father and all her family and friends who have gone before her in the eternal presence of our Heavenly Father, God bless and comfort you all in thii difficult time.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Hays. She was a wonderful, Christian lady and was very influential in my life as my Sunday School teacher when I was a young adult lady at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. My prayers are with her children & family. She will be missed, but is with her Lord and Savior and we will see her again someday.
We have been blessed to have known and felt a part of your family for many years. We are praying for all of you and hope knowing that she is with her Heavenly father and your father will bring you comfort during these difficult days. We love you. David and Nelda
My sincere condolences and uplifting prayers for you. She was one terrific lady and I'm proud to have known her.
She always had a bright smile and warm hug for everyone. I was blessed to have known her. May God wrap his loving arms around those closest to her in the days to come and provide strength during this tough time.
We have known and loved Christine for many years and we pray for you at this very difficult time.
My prayers and thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time. I am so glad I got to see and talk to Christine in the hospital on Thursday and hug and kiss her goodbye though I did not know it was a final goodbye. I loved Christine and will miss her so much. God Bless you all.
Christine was a great christian woman and I was so blessed to have known her. I will miss hugging her as I did in church on Sunday evenings. You and your family are in my prayers. I am glad I got to see her and tell her I love her and how special she was before going home to heaven.
One of a kind, loving person that had many influences in my life. Thank you for sharing your love with us.
We are praying for you and your family during this time. God bless.
