Victor "Vic" Ian Roystuart

of North Little Rock, AR

October 28, 1947 - September 17, 2011

Victor Ian Roystuart, Jr., 63, of North Little Rock, died Saturday, September 17, 2011. Most remembered for his charismatic, fun-loving personality, Vic grew up in Warminster, PA and attended William Tennet HS before joining the United States Air Force, serving in three tours in Vietnam and in Desert Storm. He worked at the Veterans Administration as a Rating Specialist until retirement in 2007. "VA Vic" was a familiar face in North Little Rock assisting veterans from all walks of life and as volunteer trustee for the Levy VFW. Life-long sports lover, Vic enjoyed playing softball and most recently, spending time with good friends on the golf course. "Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots-but you have to play the ball where it lies." Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Victor I. and Iris Roystuart, Sr. of Maryland. Survivors include, three children, Son, Christopher Roystuart, Daughter, Natalie and husband Andrew Stanton, Son, Michael and wife Jenna Roystuart; two grandchildren, Bianca and Kameron Stanton, all of Little Rock. Beloved sister, Deborah and husband Barry Timmons; Nephews Gary Roystuart and Chris Timmons all of Maryland; Cousins Marc Stortenbecker and Marsha Pfluger of Pennsylvania. Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd, NLR, AR. 501-791-7400. I worked with Vic about 12 years before I got to know him and was placed in a desk right behind him in the rating board. Being a person who requires quiet for concentration, I told him up front that I would hit him in the head if he disturbed me. He never did. I became close friends with him. He told me his favorite place in the world was in Taiwan when he was in the Air Force and had a 3 story home with a cook and maid and vehicle. He also said his favorite movie was Top Gun because he showed it to the soldiers he was supervising before a mission who were a little subdued and it really got them going. Vic was a leader and a motivator and knew a good deal when he saw one. He will be missed.

Vic was a wonderful and caring man. I enjoyed my many years of working with him at the VA Regional Office. My favorite memory would be when he attended a New Year's Eve party with a few of us from work and demonstrated a "carrier landing". I must say I had never seen that before and I am sure will never see it performed as good a Vic did that night! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. May God bless you and keep you!

Vic was one of the best friends I ever had. We shared countless unforgettable moments on and off the golf course. He was set in his ways - certainly a dog that belonged to himself - but Vic was one of the most warm-hearted, generous people I ever met. Nat, Michael & family, my prayers are with you. I'm blessed that Vic touched my life. I miss my friend terribly. Godspeed Victor, Godspeed.
