of Clinton, AR
December 26, 1924 - October 15, 2010
Carl Carlos Huggins 85, of Clinton, Arkansas passed away October 15, 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born December 26, 1924 at Sweetwater, Texas to Mathis and Edith Lenora (Reid) Huggins.
At the time of his life when he could have been enjoying a relaxing day fishing, his nature was to be working. He worked all his life at whatever it took to provide for his family from logging the mighty Spruce trees in California, delivering lumber to Fort Leonard to building barracks during the war, a feed store, American Gas Station, International dealership, and with his dozer and logging business cleared more than 7000 acres of land just for Arkansas Kraft, never forgetting about the neighbor that had one single tree down because of a wind storm. Many a man in this county will tell you " Carlos gave me my first job. " He will be remembered for the loving, Christian man that helped however he could. A man that gave you the last dollar in his pocket because you needed it more than he did. A man that honored a hand shake as if it were a formal contract. During those hard times, he and Dorothy took in 22 people over the years. There was always a place at the table and a place for them to stay. He donated his time for the betterment of the others. He cleared the land that is now known as First Assembly of God Church. As a three term Justice of the Peace he performed more than 100 weddings. Member of the First Assembly of God Church, Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shrine, President of the Choctaw Scimitar Club, and President of the Clinton Woodmen of the World Lodge.
" His master replied, " Well done, thy good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Dorothy Elizabeth (Wilson) Huggins, daughter Joanne Hefner and husband Winston of Clinton, AR; son Johnny C. Huggins and wife Becky of Clinton, AR; daughter Dorothy Lavonne Roddy and husband Walter of Danville, AR; son Jimmy Dewayne Huggins and wife Denise of Scotland, AR; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, (and another one on the way) and one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers: Jerl W. Hefner, Michael W. Hefner, Caleb Huggins, Wade Roddy, Shawn D. Roddy, Tony E. Davis, Chandis W. Linkinogger and Chad E. Elliott.
