I did not know Tyler, but from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry for your loss. From everything I have read and heard about him he was a devouted Christian, son and soldier. He is now in God's hands. God saw that Tyler was an excellant Christian and soldier and wanted him there in Heavan to help him in his war for Christianity and peace on Earth. What a glorious honor!!!!! I know that does not help the loss you now have in your hearts but maybe it will help you find some peace. God bless you all and be with you in this time of need .

I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your son Tyler. I served on the faculty at USMA when Tyler was a Plebe. Unfortunately, I never met him. However, our sons were roommates during their Yearling year.

My son sent us the note telling us about Tyler and simply wrote, “I wish you had met him.”

Please know that Tyler and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I met Tyler through my neice Ashleigh. He was a great guy, wonderful personality. He stayed the weekend with our entire family during the Miss Arkansas Pageant and we had a great time. My family was so saddened to hear of his loss the night of the 10th and then we lost my Dad the morning of the 11th. I know the hurt that I have in losing my wonderful father, and certainly cannot imagine the hurt you must feel in losing such a young life. Just wanted you to know that he touched our families lives and we were proud to have known him.

We lost our thirty-one year old son in Iraq on February 9, 2007. The prayers of others helps us and we have to keep counting our blessings.
You will be able to laugh again, but the tears are still here, too. Where would our country be with out these soldiers that are willing to give the ultimate sacrifice? Wepray that you can find comfort.

Tyler made friends easily , no doubt because of his easy smile and magnetic personality. I remember him coming by my office frequently to talk about the army, the Model Arab League Club at West Point (which he led to its first National Championship), or to ask a question about some aspect of Arabic grammar. He was an outstanding cadet and I know he was an excellent officer. My only regret is that I never got the chance to serve with him after he left the academy. You are missed, Tyler. Be thou at peace.

Dear Parten Family,
Our hearts grieve with you today, and we are so sorry for your loss. At the same time, we feel the pride that we know you have for your beloved Tyler.
Tyler touched our lives years ago when he tudored our son Daniel with Spanish. Daniel talked about Tyler every day, and we knew that there was something very special about him. He gave of himself to others and loved so beautifully through sharing his gifts and talents with so many people. Tyler was a hero before he gave his life FOR his country....he gave his life TO his country. Our hearts are forever grateful to Lt. Tyler Parten for his contributions to our lives, and his ultimate sacrifice for our country. As Americans, we bow our heads today in HONOR OF A TRUE AMERICAN HERO.

To the Family I am so very sorry for you as a family, for the loss of Tyler. I am Ashleigh's aunt, and Tyler has stayed in my home on two occasions, and has joined my family on many occasions. You raised an incredible son that touched all our hearts, He loved God and his family so very much, not to mention his country. Ashleigh has always said that her life was so much better because Tyler passed through....so was ours. He died the day after my dad, I know Jesus was the first he wanted to see, but I can't help but think, maybe he got to welcome my precious dad. My prayers are with you, Tyler won, he is with our Lord, WOW. The world is a better place becauce of Him.

I am sending my deepest, heartfelt gratitude to the Parten family for the outstanding service Tyler gave to our great nation. It takes that special something deep inside to do the job as a soldier in any of our military branches. Tyler did not serve for the glory or for the status, he served because he loved America, now he will be remembered as a true American hero. I leave you with this quote that pretty much sums it up, "For those that will fight for it...FREEDOM...has a flavor the protected shall never know."
