April 15, 1945 - July 1, 2020

Cpl. Carroll Baker Seaton peacefully departed this world on July 1, 2020, leaving behind his family and friends.

He was born on April 15, 1945 in Sylvania, Arkansas to Otha and Vara Seaton. He grew up on a dairy farm, and then he moved to Batesville in 1970.

Revered as an honest and honorable man, he was a fair-minded law enforcement officer. He was also brave, kind, just and loving. He was a mentor and a hero to many and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He loved being a grandfather to his three grandchildren above all things, but he also had a passion for hunting quail.

His parents and his older brother, Eddie N. Seaton, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Brenda Goforth Seaton; two sons, Wade Seaton and Jason Seaton (Laura); 3 grandchildren, Luke Seaton, Sophie Seaton and Alyx Keller, all of Batesville; and a sister Darlene Seaton Byrd of Doniphan, MO.

I am so sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences to the entire Seaton family. I remember Carroll when he began his tour of law enforcement with the ASP. I was a part time dispatcher in Batesville during my time in Batesville and knew him quite well. He was always respected and admired for his professionalism..

Dear Brenda, Wade and Jason,

My heartfelt sympathy. Carroll was an incredible Trooper and a true mentor for me as a new Deputy Sheriff in Independence County. The many things he taught me benefited me throughout my law enforcement career and I will always be grateful for his guidance, wisdom and friendship.

May God Bless You All,
John Kelley

My late husband, JW Wammack, spoke very highly of Trooper Seaton. The two of these great officers worked together in many incidents. I'm sure they have many stories to share in Heaven. Praying for the family.
