My mother Glenda Mary Majors Ramsey grew up with Miss Estelle in LaCrosse. They lost touch after attending different schools but found each other late in Mom's life. They were best friends as children and Mom loved her like a sister. Each time they were together they held hands while talking a mile a minute and laughing until they cried. I enjoyed getting to know her and visiting with her at my Mom's home and at her work with children in Batesville. I know they are united again, holding hands and laughing up a storm. Tell Momma I love her and rest in peace my friend.
Ms. Estelle or Granny as Lyndsey called you, how blessed we were to have you in our lives and sad to hear of your passing. Lyndsey loved you so much and we remember how she was your baby and how you called her “my Lyndsey.†God’s speed and our deepest sympathy and love to your family for sharing you with us. We love you.
Dear Family of Miss Estelle, Many of us, especially her St. Paul’s family, are so saddened by this news, but even more so that we did not know she had passed, and missed her graveside service. She was a pillar of our church as well as her own. She raised so many of us in the nursery, and we have missed her ever since she retired. Covid kept us away from visiting her and singing with her in the nursing home.
She was a very special lady who touched many, many lives of black and white people.
Please let me know where memorials can be made in honor of her.
