Ellen Virginia Melson, 86, of Cave City passed away Monday, March 30, 2020.
She was born on May 14, 1933 in East Prairie, Missouri to Collie Taylor and Beatrice (Ashley) Taylor.
Ellen was a member of the Lincoln Church of God.
Survivors include her and her first husband, Hughie's four children, one son, Tommy Chastain of Lincoln, Arkansas; three daughters, Geraldine McClendon of Palestine, Arkansas, Freida Turney and husband, Larry of Cave City, Arkansas and Pamela Prater and husband, Frank of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one brother, Robert Taylor of Marion, Arkansas; one sister, Lois Stevenson and husband, Wayne of Wynne, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Hughie Chastain; second husband, Obie Melson; one daughter, Louise King; two brothers, Sammy Taylor and Roy Gene Taylor; two sisters, Doris Forrester and Frances Simmerson; and two grandchildren, Wanda Higgenbottom and Johnny Chastain Staton.
There will be a private graveside service held under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville with Bro. Frank Prater officiating.
Memorials may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
