James "Jim" Smith, 74, of Horseshoe Bend died Friday, August 23, 2019.
He was born Sunday, December 17, 1944 in Richlands, Virginia to Jesse and Francis Smith.
James was a Navy veteran and member of the American Legion Post 114 who had a great sense of humor and took care of everyone. Being a selfless person, he was always a good friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed going to auctions and watching crime shows on T.V.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Reynolds) Smith whom he married January 24, 1989; his mother, Francis Smith of Maryland; two sons, Jimmy Smith of Fall River, Massachusetts and Steven Smith of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; three daughters, Lorrie Beland of Somerset, Massachusetts, Tabatha Smith of Salem, Arkansas, and Felicia Smith of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; one brother, Donald Smith of Severn, Maryland; two sisters, Jean Shriffrin of Severn, Maryland and Nancy Smith of Towson, Maryland; and ten grandchildren, Lauren and Ashlyn Beland, Destiny Smith, Haylie Bates, Jesse Bates, Paisley Bobo, Autumn Bobo, Lisa Browning, Natalie Browning, and Emma Brink.
James is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Smith.
The memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville, Arkansas with Grace Pearson officiating.
Visitations will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post 114, 100 Legion Lane, Batesville, AR 72501.
