Anne L. Hodges-Peterson, 89, of the Gainesboro community went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2019 in a Batesville Hospital.
Born June 23, 1930, at Gainesboro, AR, she was the daughter of Eugene Jackson Hodges & Eila Ruth Cason-Hodges. She and her three siblings grew up in the Gainesboro community on the Cason-Hodges farm and attended the Charlotte Schools. Upon graduating high school, she went to the Baptist School of Nursing in Little Rock, graduating in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career lasted for almost 50 years with her first job being Dr. Charles Taylor's nurse. She then worked for many years at the North Arkansas Clinic Hospital as well as at many nursing homes. Her final years in nursing were spent serving as the Director of Nursing at Approve Home Medical Services before retiring in 1999.
She met and married her husband of 56 years, Warren Hans Peterson, on April 14, 1951. They had two children, Carol Ann Peterson-Hix (Steve) and Shirley Catherine Peterson-Manning (Robert) as well as six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before Warren passed away in 2007.
Anne loved her family very much and valued spending time with all of them.
She loved to care for and serve others throughout her life. She thrived on helping others in need.
She has been a member of the Sharp United Methodist Church in the Gainesboro community since her adolescent years and has served as the pianist/organist for many, many years.
Anne has always been very proud of her heritage and studying her genealogy. She took pride in being a descendant of the Hodges, Cason, Shirley, Bone, and Jeffery families. She would often visit her families' cemeteries and place flowers on the graves as well as to pay her respects. She was also proud to have married into the Peterson family and always extended an open invitation for their visits.
She was a member of the Cave City Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for several decades where she served as Worthy Matron during that time.
She enjoyed cooking for her family as well as for others in the community. She also enjoyed fresh vegetables from the family garden over the years. She enjoyed being outside in the yard, watching the variety of birds in the yard, and simply being outside on the family farm. She was perfectly content to be at home on the farm and found great comfort always being near home. She clearly came from a time and mindset of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Being a part of the "Greatest Generation", she was truly one of a kind and a pioneer woman in many respects. She was a compassionate and dedicated advocate for her family, for her patients, and for those in the community. She always had an open door for her family, friends, church family and neighbors.
She has touched so many lives during her 89 years and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Jack Hodges & William "Babe" Hodges, and a son-in-law, Robert Manning.
Survivors include her two daughters: Carol Ann Peterson-Hix (Steve) of Little Rock, Shirley Catherine Peterson-Manning of Batesville, her sister, Jeanne Hodges-Lebsack of Omaha, NE, her six grandchildren: Jennifer Anne Hix-Hardin (Aaron) of Little Rock, Jordan Hix (Kelcey) of New York, NY, Courtney Hix-Martinez (Daniel) of Little Rock, Matthew Manning (Sarah) of Conway, Jon Michael Warren Manning (Gloria) of Sulphur Rock, and Marc Manning (Michaela) of Evening Shade, eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be her six grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Roller Crouch Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm.
A celebration of Anne's life will be held at the Sharp United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 24 at 10am with Pastor John Mark Moore and Kaneaster Hodges, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be at the Lee's Chapel Moorefield Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Sharp United Methodist Church or to the Lee's Chapel Moorefield Cemetery in care of Citizen's Bank.

Anne was a beautiful lady she was a pillar for many. We are so blessed to have had Anne in our lives. My sister and I met her through our Cason genealogy search. Anne was so proud of her Cason heritage and loved to share her family information. She invited us to stay with her when in Batesville and we spent many hours around her table, talking about family. Anne’s warm loving kindness suited her perfectly for her nursing career. And she was generous with her musical talent. In fact, we are certain that if there’s a piano in heaven sweet Anne will be playing along during worship time at her beloved Sharp UMC. We thank God for the privilege of having Anne in our lives. Our hearts are sad that we’ll not have more visits. But the joy of knowing where she is and who she’s with is indescribable. Prayers for each one who loved Anne.

To Anne's dear family. I had the privilege of meeting Anne while doing Cason family genealogy research. She was my Dad's first cousin. We became fast friends and shared many wonderful stories, reunions, visits, and laughs. She was one of the most generous people I've ever met, always inviting me and my sister to come and stay in the beautiful bedroom additions to her home. We were able to to that several times and made some great discoveries regarding the Casons while in Batesville. She drove us around the many Cason farm sites and introduced us to Sharp United Methodist Church. I loved Anne and will miss her.

My deep condolences to all the family. My husband Stan(Anne's cousin( and I have visited and stayed at Anne's a number of times.She was a sweet lady. Stan died Oct.27,2018.
