Dorothy Peel, 85, of Desha passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

She was born on April 13, 1934 in Morehouse, Missouri to Lawrence Smith and Lily Myrtle (Maddox) Smith.

Dorothy was a member of First Church where she was a Ladies Director and taught Sunday school she also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a sweet and caring person, a good mother and loved her family dearly.

Survivors include her husband of almost 62 years, James Allen Peel; two sons, James Peel Jr. of Desha and Tom Peel (Toni) of Collinsville, Illinois; one grandchild, Lindsay Peel; one great-grandchild, Chase Hall; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Peel; brothers, Bob and Don Smith; and sisters, Erma, Lily, Pansy, Cynthia, and Gena.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Dowell, Boyd Kirker, Chris Wilson, John Hodge, Trenton Hodge, and Gary Briten.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at First Church with M.D. Parmley officiating. Burial will follow at Alderbrook Cemetery in Desha.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. prior to service at the church.
