Leonard Wilbur Smith, 91, of Batesville died Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
He was born on Sunday, February 6, 1927 to Leonard J. and Anna (Wink) Smith.
Leonard and his wife, Helen, were married July 19, 1969. Leonard worked for Boeing for 37 and a half years painting aircrafts. He painted Air Force 1. Leonard used a farmer's almanac to plant a vegetable garden and enjoyed every minute of it. He also loved the Razorbacks. In his early years, he was active with Boy Scouts. He helped his son become an Eagle Scout. This has become a tradition in the family that will be carried down.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Jeffrey) Smith; one son, Michael Smith (Lisa) of Cave City; three step-sons, Randy Nash (Cathy) of Batesville, Jeffrey Nash (Lynn) of Wichita, Kansas, Bobby Nash (Virginia) of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Sue Wright (Tommie) of Springfield, Missouri, Myrtle Tosh of Batesville; seven grandchildren, Amie Miller, Heather Martin, Carrie Russell, Brittany Hardin, Jessica Lies, Ryan Nash, Aleena Smith; eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Debbie Smith Presley; one son, Gary Smith; one grandson, Chris Goodwin; one brother, Aubrey Smith, and one sister, Levana Clark.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Nash, Freddie Mohlke, Shorty Coles, Chris Wright, Martin Steward, Andy Sherrill, Chris Wright, and Leighton Hardin.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2019 at Desha United Methodist Church with Bro. Steve Long and Randy Seale officiating. Burial will follow at Alderbrook Cemetery.
Visitations will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
I will never forget the mornings I woke up at mamaw and papaw's during summer break to the smell of biscuits and gravy; going into the livingroom around 9am and papaw saying, "it's about time, you slept the afternoon away." LOL That was papaw! Up before the sun. I will never forget the smell of his aftershave. Love and miss you papaw.

Aunt Helen, I am sad to lose a wonderful uncle, but we know he is with all of his loved ones that have gone on before. Words cannot convey what we really mean to say, but God has another angel. Our loss is heaven's gain. We love you all and wish we could be there. Josh will always remember him as Uncle Leonardo.
