Veronica "Ronnie" Murphy
January 24, 1942  -  May 15, 2018

Veronica “Ronnie” Murphy, age 76, formerly of Mountain Home, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in Oakham, Massachusetts.
She was born January 24, 1942 in Hays, Kansas to Alexander and Minna (Koestel) Phannenstiel. On June 6, 1964, she married Robert Murphy in Denver, Colorado.
She and Bob fulfilled their retirement dream of moving to Mountain Home full-time 19 years ago from Sioux City, South Dakota after being part-time residents for many years. They were both dedicated members of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Ronnie loved being a grandmother and spending time with her family, including her various beloved dogs. She was kind and fun, and a woman of many talents, including singing, sewing beautiful clothing, flower-arranging, and making a mean gingerbread man. Her kindness belied her underlying toughness—raising three children while Bob did three tours of duty in Viet Nam, moving every few years as the wife of a career military officer, overcoming alcohol addiction, and surviving cancer. She helped others battling cancer by volunteering at Peitz Cancer Support House and Reach to Recovery
Survivors are her three daughters: Kelly A. Murphy (husband Daniel Sullivan): Carbondale, Colorado; Christine M. Murphy (husband Peter Ammon): Breckenridge, Colorado; and Theresa L. Murphy (husband Troy Rapp): Oakham, Massachusetts; grandchildren Mia and Jacob Ammon and Kian Sullivan; sister Annita Watts, and many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, parents, and brothers Louis and Rudolph.
Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday, May 25, 2018, at Roller Funeral Home. A Vigil Service will be at 7 P.M. in the Roller Chapel with Deacon Robert Crawford officiating. The Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Reverend Nazarus Maduba as celebrant, brunch to follow. Entombment will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Scholarship Fund. Visit our online guestbook at
