Charles Richard EvansI am a Veteran.

of Jacksonville, AR

October 12, 1929 - April 13, 2018

Charles R. Evans, 88, of Jacksonville, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018. He was born on October 12, 1929 in Mansfield, LA to the late Lloyd L. and Rama Peterson Evans. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Pat Evans, one brother, and three sisters.

Charles proudly served his country in the US Army as a medic. Following his time in the service he went on to receive three Masters Degree's. Mr. Evans moved his family to Jacksonville in 1964. He was a Principal for PCSSD, retiring in 1988, after 24 years with the school district. He valued education and was very influential in helping others develop professionally. His students remember him from ''Calling the Hogs'' over the intercom every Friday afternoon. He loved the Razorbacks.

Charles met the love of his life, Pat, and they were married in 1953. Together they raised and loved their family, dedicated themselves to their community, and enjoyed traveling after retirement. They made many friends over the years as they traveled in their motorhome. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on the lake. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, where he was a deacon, and served in various roles over the years.

He is survived by his daughter; Michelle Clark (Gerald), son; Chad Evans (Dena), grandchildren; Dustin Cole (Chrissy), Devin Cole (Carolyn), Chase Evans, Rachel Evans, and Blair Riggins (Heath); great-granddaughter, Hazel Maxeen Riggins, as well as one sister; Sharlie Rae Elsenbrock. Mr. Evans will be missed by many friends, including a special colleague who continued to visit him regularly; Linda Remele, and his caregiver; Sheila Elliott.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 18 at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to First Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

So many prayers to the Evans family. I remember Mr. Evans as principal and Mrs. Evans was my 6th grade teacher. They were such nice people and the last I saw them was when they were at Woodland Hills recuperating. My mother was a resident there and ran into them frequently. I’ve since moved to Oklahoma from Jacksonville after my mother passed in 2015.
Know they are together again in our most heavenly home.
