Charles D. Casey, aged 88, of Benton died Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Heartland Nursing facility in Benton. He was born February 19, 1931 in Dongola, Arkansas, a son of Charlie and Nettie (McElroy) Casey.
He grew up in the Snowball community where he attended school. At the age of 21 he joined the United States Army where he served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He recently received the Ambassador for Peace Medal for his service and dedication in the Korean War.
Charles and his wife, Geraldine Norvell, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary June 8 of this year. They lived in Harrison for 23 years before moving to the Little Rock/Benton area. He pastored several different churches in North and Central Arkansas.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Douglas Casey; and two sisters, Mozelle Yancey and Patricia Rains.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Casey of the home; a daughter, Carol and husband, Johnny Brown of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, John Casey of Bryant; two sisters, Robbie Raver of Harrison and Mary Jo Griffin of Snowball; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Monday, July 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home (501-315-0700) at 6700 Alcoa Rd. in Benton.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison with Rev. John Casey officiating. Visitation at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home will be an hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Milam Cemetery in Harrison. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
