Russell Dirst, age 79, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018. He was born September 26, 1938 in Yakima, Washington, the son of Fred and Jorene (Hudson) Dirst.
He grew up in Rush, Arkansas and served his flag and country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Mildred (Sarringer). The family returned to own and operate the Dirst Canoe Rental on the Buffalo River.
Russell is survived by his daughters: Marsha (Louis) Smith of Floral, Arkansas; and Melissa Dirst-Roberts (Doyle) of Yellville, Arkansas; his sister Ann Shelton of Yellville, Arkansas; grandchildren: James Russell Worster, Tabitha Roberts, Samuel Smith and Mason Smith; great grandchildren: Shelby Worster, Lauren Worster, and Kenley Worster.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred; a brother John; and his parents.
A gathering of friends and family for visitation will be Wednesday, September 5, at Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville, Arkansas from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Graveside services for Mr. Dirst will be private.
