I just saw that Anna Mae had passed away in the Hillcrest newsletter. I am so very sorry for your loss. I grew up knowing Anna Mae. She and my mother, Joyce Sanders, were dear friends for many, many years. If I recall correctly, they met at Alpena schools. My mother is also a resident of Hillcrest. She has been for over 8 years. She is 97. They often attended the same church. Mom played the piano. Anna Mae lived to sing. They also kept in touch on the phone until age began to prevent them from doing so. The most wonderful thing she did for my mother, and our family (other than being a dear friend to Mom), is make many quilts for us! Mom ordered quilts from her for each kid and grandchild. They would go together to pick out the fabric, and spend time together reminiscing during the creation of the quilts. They are the most beautiful, amazing quilts which we all treasure. Every stitch is absolutely beautiful. She was a dear, sweet woman. I have fond memories of spending time in her & Lawrence’s home. My condolences to your family. God bless.
