Charles D. Casey, aged 88, of Benton, died Thursday, July 25 (2019) at Heartland Nursing facility in Benton. He was born February 19, 1931, at Dongola, Arkansas, the son of Charlie and Nettie (McElroy) Casey. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Douglas Casey; and two sisters, Mozelle Yancey and Patricia Rains.

Charles grew up in the Snowball community where he attended school. At the age of 21, he joined the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He recently received the Ambassador of Peace Medal for his service and dedication in the Korean War. He and his wife, Geraldine (Norvell), celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 8, 2019. They lived in Harrison for 23 years before moving to the Little Rock/Benton area. He pastored several different churches in north and central Arkansas.

Charles is survived by his wife, Geraldine Casey, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Johnny Brown, of Dayton, Ohio; his brother, John Casey, of Bryant; two sisters, Robbie Raver of Harrison and Mary Jo Griffin of Snowball; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.


Visitation was held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2019, at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Roller-Christenson Funeral Home in Harrison, with the Rev. John Casey officiating. Visitation was an hour prior to the service.

Burial was at Milam Cemetery, Harrison.

Family members served as pallbearers.
