December 7, 1931 - May 13, 2019

Stephen Augustus Todd, age 87, of Bergman, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019, at the Hospice House in Harrison. Stephen was born December 7, 1931, to Osa and Marie (Longar) Todd, in St. Louis, Missouri. His childhood stories are filled with family, friends, and adventure.

Steve graduated high school from Maryland Heights, Missouri in 1948. He then attended Harding University and graduated with a Science degree. To pay for his tuition, he and his brothers opened and managed ''The Beanery,'' Harding's first off campus café/coffee shop. While at Harding, Steve met and married Betty Jo Harmon.

Steve served in the Army as a medic in Orleans, France for the first two years of his marriage. He returned to the St. Louis area and worked as a civil engineer for White Rogers for seven years before he transferred to Batesville, AR. After all four children were born, Steve began his life work as a special agent, first for Naval Intelligence and then the U.S. Department of Defense. Although Steve was intelligent and worked hard, he loved his family more than anything else. Steve was an avid fisherman and taught his family to love the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, and friend.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty Jo ''B. J.'' (Harmon) Todd; his parents; his infant sister, Juanita Todd; his brother, Dale Todd, and his brother-in-law, Lowell Beauchamp. He is survived by his brother, Don Todd and wife Bennie; his sister, Lois Beauchamp; and his sister-in-law, Martha Todd. Steve is also survived by two sons, Mark (Patti) Todd of Shreveport, LA and Michael Todd of Peel, AR; two daughters, Jolene (Stan) Nutt of Sugar Hill, GA, and Sandra (Harold) Johnson of Harrison; nine grandchildren including Todd (Katie) Johnson, Trent (Kate) Johnson, Charlene (Pearson) Maugeri, Tyler (Mary) Nutt, Tiffany Pace, Courtney Todd, Jessica Todd, Jennifer Todd and Ritchie Todd; and several great-grandchildren.

Steve was a faithful member of the Lords church all of his days and was a member of Bergman Church of Christ. Over the years he served as a Bible class teacher, deacon, and elder and was known for his desire to teach others the Good News! Steve was blessed to have so many family and friends that supported and loved him throughout his life.

Special thanks to Dr. Tom and Cindy Langston for their years of care and the staff at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison.

Visitation was Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

The funeral service was Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Bergman Church of Christ.

Pallbearers were Jim Dixon, Dennis Hunt, Royce Jones, Tony Taylor, Dennis Sain, and Rick Moore.

Burial followed at Maple Leaf Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Paragould Children's Home at Children's Homes, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450.
