Johnny Criss Acuff, age 72, of Harrison, died Monday, December 24, 2018, in Harrison. He was born August 16, 1946, in Harrison, the son of J.W. and Vivian (Cantrell) Acuff. Criss was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, Sharon Louann (Hefley) Acuff.
Criss is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Diana Acuff, of Harrison; his daughter, Christy Acuff Vidos; his son, Christopher Scott Acuff, of the home; five granddaughters, Kristen and Brittany Vidos of Morgan City, Louisiana, Mary Paray of Franklin, Louisiana, Victoria Crabtree of Wasilla, Alaska and Leslie Paray of the home; and several great-grandchildren.
Criss loved the farm, fishing, gardening, cooking and hunting, but most of all he loved to visit with his friends and spend time with his family and his animals including Belle, Sadie, Natalie and Blue. He was a strong believer in his faith and was a member of Silver Valley Church. Criss believed in spoiling everyone around him usually by giving them fruit or produce of some kind. He also believed there was nothing better than being surrounded by his family at all times. He will be dearly missed by many.
Funeral service was Thursday, January 3, 2018, at Silver Valley Church in Harrison. Interment will be at White Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Doug Lowery, Trevor Lowery, Donald Carl Acuff, Jr., Joseph Shillings, Joshua Saylors, Todd Saylors, Chris Diffey, Toby Gregorio and Russell Mahler.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Mulford, Eddie and Jerry Dillon, Kenway Clagget, Ernie Wooley, Walker Lowery, Jimmy Harp, J. Harris Moore and his first cousins
