Charley Edgar Taylor, age 89, of Harrison, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Mt. Vista Nursing and Rehab. He was born August 16, 1929, in Bergman, Arkansas, the son of Ralph Lafayette and Selma (Rushing) Taylor. Along with his parents, Charley was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Milum) Taylor; two sons, David and Michael; a sister, Berna Gene Benjamin; and two brothers, Jim and Joel.

Charley was a member of First United Methodist Church. He graduated from Bergman High School in 1947. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force August 20, 1947, and was with the 343rd Bomb Squadron 98th Bomb Group. He was stationed at Spokane Air Force Base, Okinawa and England. He was honorably discharged June 20, 1950. He married Betty Milum in 1951 and they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked for General Motors Corporation.

Upon their return to Harrison in 1956, Charley worked for Turney Wood Products, Milum Motor Company, Dogpatch USA Theme Park, the National Park Service and the Arkansas Department of Transportation retiring in 1992.

Charley is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Tom Street of Harrison and Karen and Randy Raney of Harrison; his son, Steve Taylor; and his sister, Loretta Mathis, of Nevada, Missouri.

Charley is also survived by his grandchildren, Josh Taylor of Florida, Amanda Street of Harrison, Jordan Street of Fayetteville, Hannah Raney of Maumelle, Samantha Raney of Columbia, Missouri and Rebecca Raney of Harrison; his great-grandchildren, Caleb, Aubrey, James, Bailey and Madison; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside service was 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Maplewood Cemetery, with Hilton West eulogizing.

Honorary pallbearers were the Arkansas Highway Department crew and Charley's grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Atlas and Mt. Vista.

I just read of Charley's passing. I have such great memories of him as our neighbor when I was a kid, but most of all, as my boss at Dogpatch. He was a great boss! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
