September 3, 1941 - June 21, 2020

Judy Polston Gregory, daughter of Sydney and Memorie Polston passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020.

Judy always said she was a jack of all trades and master of none. In her lifetime, she was a dance and piano teacher, hairdresser, realtor and most recently a history teacher. She earned her BS in Education at the age of 45 from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. She taught history in Stamps, Helena-West Helena and North Little Rock School districts. She was always excited to run into a former student and tell them how proud she was of them.

After retirement, she stayed busy being a docent at the Clinton Presidential Library, was past president of the Maumelle AARP chapter, taught dance, history and keyboarding at the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center. She always enjoyed helping others.

She was married for 43 years to Wayne Gregory, who proceeded her in death.

Survivors include her two children Curtis Gregory (Tracey) of Helena and Cydney Gregory Pearce (John) of Hailey, ID. She had four grandsons, Heath Gregory of New Orleans, LA, Brett Gregory of Little Rock, AR, Seth Pearce of Pocatello, ID, and Tate Pearce of Hailey, ID. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Sloate of Springfield, MO.

Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. A memorial service will be planned for later this summer.

Services are directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571. Relatives and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/westhelena.

So sorry to hear about Judy. Have known her most of our lives. She was in the class with my older sister Janice. She was very sweet and entertaining (especially in the beauty shop talking about you Curtis! ) I could see how your young life of adventures led you to be a Physical Therapist!!! So sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for the loss of this wonderful lady. I am happy that I got to know her. She was full of adventitious stories of her life. I was amazed at how much she accomplished in her life. We formed a friendship and I am thankful for that. May she have lots of things to keep her busy now. I will look forward to seeing her again.

I have good memories of Aunt Judy as a kid in Helena. They lived across the street from my grandmother and I would go over there and play with Sydney as a kid every weekend. She was always very sweet and giving when I would visit. Rest in peace Aunt Judy.

So sorry to learn of Judy's passing. I was a year ahead of her at Central High School, and we attended church together and had fun youth group activities together. She was always fun to be with and her enthusiasm was contagious. The reunions our classes had together were an enjoyment I treasure. She will be missed by many. May God bless her family during this time.

Judy was a dynamo for energy and shared her skills, talent and happiness with all. I will never forget her as the dancing cigarette
package at Woodruff School. She was our next door neighbor and she was always kind to the kids that were always in awe of her. As an adult she was a fun person to be around. So many memories abound that she will never be forgotten. Prayers for peace and comfort in this transition.

Curtis, Cyd and families,
Judy was bright, quick and always ready to have an in depth discussion on current events. She had a smile that could light up a room. Ron and I miss our usual weekly dinners with her and Phil. She really enjoyed Razorback Pizza. She loved you both and was crazy about her grandchildren. She always had a story to tell about your latest exploits, adventures and the family members' victories. Local Maumelle school children have been better equipped due to her implementation of a school supply drive within the Maumelle Chapter of AARP. She was a strong advocate of learning and of providing children with the tools they needed for education. She started that program about twenty years ago and it has grown to be a major Chapter community service activity. We already miss her.

Curtis, Tracy, Cidney, John and family. We are so sorry for your loss. We have known Judy ever since she moved to Maumelle, about 25 years ago. She was a good friend, and always ready to help in any way she could. Enjoyed working with her on the AARP Health Fairs, School Supply drives, and so many other projects. She was active in Maumelle Newcomers as long as she lived here. She was always ready to volunteer when something needed to be done. We have missed seeing her since she moved, but enjoyed talking to her on the phone often. She will be missed by all who knew her. God Bless and comfort the family.

We are so sad to hear about the passing of Judy. She was an integral part of the Class of '59 at Central High School, always sharing a smile and friendliness. Living far away from Arkansas, we have not had much contact over the years but will always remember her hard work in notifying our class of important events and in keeping our cohesiveness. We miss her.

So many great memories of Judy! We kept each other's kids, talked about any problems we had and shared so much. No one can forget "Second Grade Parents" at DeSoto, Judy and her mother were great supporters and worked very hard for us to split the second grade and hire Carol Spencer so each class would not be overloaded. We raised enough to pay salary for Carol.

I will always cherish her friendship and will keep Curtis, Cyd iand grandchildren n my prayers in the hard days to come. She was so proud of you all.

I was just speaking of you on Saturday. I was telling a group how I was turned on to the love of history. You were the second person who opened my eyes to my love of the subject. Thank you for challenging us. I learned oral history because of you and learned more on the subject when I worked for a museum. I am forever grateful for you for pushing us to become better. I remember Ms Judy fondly. She was my elementary Sunday School teacher at Cleburne Avenue. Every Sunday she’d begin by playing the piano and we’d all sing hymns. I remember admiring her manicured red fingernails as she played. I still have the rose encased acrylic cross she gave me for perfect attendance. She was a very good teacher. Thinking of her today and of Curtis and Gaye. Prayers for you both!

Judy was a member of the Central High School Class of '59. She was instrumental in planning and organizing many of our class reunions. Unfortunately, she was not able to attend our latest reunion this past November. Her obituary about says it all about this lady who was not afraid to reach out and do whatever she wanted to do. She will be sorely missed by all who whose path she crossed, including so many students she taught. Our loss is surely Heaven's gain.
