Murray and I have enjoyed getting to visit with Joe at ASU. We loved that he was the original Jumping Joe. We will certainly miss him.

I was so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I would have attended the services had I known. Joe sought me out years ago at an ASU event. He knew my dad and was actually the best man at my dad’s brother’s wedding. We shared many stories and he revealed stories about my dad that I would have never known. I will miss seeing him. He always brightened my day!!!

I was so saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I guess I've known Joe for over 50 years since he and my dad, John, became close friends when they worked together as pharmaceutical reps. He was a great friend and our family always held Joe in the highest esteem. We already miss Joe.

Dear Melio Family: I met Joe years ago at St. Edward's Catholic Church which is across the street (west) from Quapaw Tower where Joe lived. We all loved Joe at St. Edward's. He would attend Mass usually on Saturday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. He would talk about Arkansas State ( The Indians ) and that he was the original Running Joe of Arkansas State ! He was always fun to be around. He would definitely lift your spirits with his enthusiasm and energy ! Joe would always come over to St. Edward's during Lent for our fish fry dinners in the church cafeteria. Joe will be greatly missed. May he rest in the Peace of Christ ! I got to know Joe about 4 years ago when I lived downtown in the same building. We instantly struck up a conversation when he saw me wearing something with a Red Wolf. Every time we would see each other in the lobby we shared stories and he would tell me about days of old. I will miss my friend. Forever an Indian!!!

Mr Joe became an instant friend to all he met and was a member of the blanket buddy system when we were all trying to stay warm at the end of the football season at Arkansas State University. He always made me laugh and by sharing his history and memories of so many things was priceless! We will miss you, sir. Rest in Love & Peace Mr. Joe ~ Shane & Debbie Broadway

In the early 1970's Joe was a pharmaceutical sales rep with his territory extending down to El Dorado, where I worked. He made a wonderful first and lasting impression on me. HE had the sweetest disposition and treated everyone with respect. There was a 30 year period I did not see Joe, but saw him walking down the street just up from the Art center about 15 years ago and I stopped in the middle of the road to holler at him! HE recognized me just as readily as I had him! He had aged somewhat, but still the sweetest man. RIP Joe. Heaven has gained another Angel!

My heart is broken to hear of Joe's passing. Joseph was a very dear friend of my husband, John C. Schratz. Joseph helped John in getting a job with what back in the days was called Norwich which became Proctor & Gamble. Joseph and John stayed in touch with each other ,he would come and visit, have dinner and also to parties. My thoughts and prayers to all of the family. may Joseph now rest in peace. Regards, Kaye Schratz and Family

My association with Joe goes "way back". Before Quapaw Towers he lived in Johnson Apartments at 12th and Main. By the time I moved there in 1972 or so he had moved to Quapaw but he remained good friends with the owner, Verniece Johnson, and would come back to visit quite often and I'd be invited to share their meal or conversation. A few years ago Erika Chudy invited me to go with she and Joe to Cotham's in Scott for lunch. He remembered exactly the last time he had seen me and what I was wearing. When asked about his memory he said that he didn't have much else to do so he 'remembered things'. My condolences to the family!

Sonny and I live in Monticello but have a condo at Quapaw Tower on the fourth floor. Joe was our neighbor. We would always stay there on our way to Fayetteville for the Razorback football games. Joe always met us to tell us how Arkansas State was doing. He was always adamant that the two teams should play each other. We will miss him so much. Our sympathy to his family.

Joe and i were condo neighbor and friends for 25 years.
He loved my deviled eggs and Christmas fudge. We had a tradition that Joe always was the first one to get my real estate calendar . He really liked the little calendar.
He will be missed at Quapaw Tower, but all praise to Jesus, he is in a better place now....his heavenly home.

To Mr. Joe's Nieces and Nephews and Friends,

Mr. Joe was a very special Friend to our family. His Mother and Brother, Mr. Robert lived across the road from my Mama and Daddy and we were all the best of friends. They all were very special people. My prayer is that Mr. Joe enjoyed the last years of his life as I know he worked hard and he was a good person. My prayer is that his family will remember the good times and the happy memories. My prayer is that the Lord Blesses each of you with His Love and Strength and comfort. I am sure that Mama and Daddy and Mrs, Melio and Mr. Robert were right there at the Pearly Gates to Welcome him Home. Rest in Peace Mr. Joe and Thanks for the love for our family.Love and prayers Barbara

Joe and I served on the Quapaw Tower board together for several years. Joe enjoyed me teasing him as well as arguing with him up until he went to the care facility. Peace be with his family and friends.
