Wanda Lou Barrentine, age 79, of Batesville, AR, formally Helena, AR, died July 8, 2018, at White River Medical Center.
She was born April 6, 1939 in Alligator, MS to the late Prentiss Floyd (Jake) and Allie Mae Blake Barrentine.
She was a past member of the 2nd Baptist Church in West Helena, AR.
She graduated from Elaine High School and was a seamstress at Bobbie Brooks, Inc. in West Helena, AR for many years. She was a loving foster mother and school teacher assistant for several years. She cared for all the cats and dogs that came into her life.
She moved to Batesville in 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; Prentiss Edward, William Earl (Sonny Boy), Henry Frank, and Robert Allen Barrentine and two sisters, Barbara Jean (Nancy) Barrentine Hodges and her twin sister Betty Sue Barrentine Igou.
Survivors include sister Dorothy Nell Barrentine Johnson of Shelby, MS, sister Virginia Ann Barrentine Hart of Van Buren, AR; multiple nephews and nieces, and many foster children, especially Amber Hawkins West of Helena, AR.
After God and her family on earth, there was nothing she loved more than taking care of children and bouncing them on her knees or rocking them to sleep.
A graveside service for Wanda Barrentine will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother James Gaylan Hayes will officiate.
