Monica Lynn Varela, 49 of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Fort Smith. She was born on June 18, 1969 in Paris, Arkansas to her parents David Rieder Sr. and Cynthia (Sparks) Phillips. She was a retired CNA who always had a passion for helping people and was of the Catholic faith.

She is preceded in death by her uncle, Jimbo Rieder and her grandmother, Elizabeth Boles.

She is survived by her husband of twenty years, Trinidad Varela of Fort Smith; her father, David Rieder Sr. of Paris; her mother, Cynthia Phillips of Lavaca; her grandmother, Bertha Wineberg of Paris; one daughter, Ciara Rose Rieder of Fort Smith; two sons, Andrew Davis of Magazine and Nick Davis of Fort Smith; one sister, Geneva Rieder of Magazine; three brothers, David Rieder Jr. of Clarksville, Brandon Rieder of Paris and Cody Phillips of Lavaca and three grandchildren, Rozie Davis, Kenzie Davis and Simon Davis.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, December 21, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Churchl in Paris with burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Pallbearers will Andrew Davis, Nick Davis, David Rieder Jr., Brandon Rieder, Cody Phillips and Michael Howard.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Rieder Sr., Mike Jordan nad Jason Lovell II.

I’m so sorry to hear of your family’s lost, although I didn’t personally know Mrs. Varela, I do unfortunately like many know what’s it’s like to lose a loved one. We all look forward to the day when Isaiah 33:24 is fulfilled “And no resident will say “I am sick.” May you all find peace in the God of all comfort in His words at Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.”
