Barbara L. Magness Pollard, 98, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020. She was born in Rosie, Arkansas, December 24, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Magness and Louisa Bell Martin Magness. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Sylvester E. Pollard and her brother Orbren Magness.

Barbara was a member of Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed having her family around as much as possible. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Pollard attended Arkansas School for the Blind in Little Rock Class of 1940, the oldest living graduate at the time of her death. She attended Draughon School of Business and UALR.
She retired from Central Manufacturing in North Little Rock.

Lifetime interests included being a Bible Student and Sunday school teacher. She was a Church Librarian at Central Baptist Church in Little Rock and Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock for over 65 years. A Composer of "Born to Die" (c)1965 and author of "Magness Pioneers in America," published in 2015, a family genealogy and history. She was Co-Treasurer of BSA Troops 555 in Little Rock.

She served on the North Little Rock Planning Commission '91-'95, Rose City Property Owners Association Sec. and Treasurer '78-'93, and Chief Judge and Poll worker in Rose City for 25 years.
She survived by her daughter, Elvesta June Pollard Shoptaw (Basil); son, Stanley Philip Pollard (Virginia)-Rowlett, Texas; siblings, Audrey Turner-Memphis, Tennessee, Claria June Magness and Keith Magness-Benton, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Erma Jean Pollard-Searcy, Arkansas; grandchildren, Michael Shoptaw (Melody)-Quitman, Arkansas, Ashelyn Abney (Peter), Heather Geoghagan (Jay), Philip Pollard (Jennifer)-Richardson, Texas, Marie Pollard-Garland, Texas; great-grandchildren, Scott Shoptaw (Allyson), Isaac Fain-Louisville, Kentucky, Karlie Edwards (Ethan)-Lufkin, Texas, Adeline Geoghagan-Annapolis, Maryland and Nathaniel Geoghagan; great-great grandchildren, Aleah Shoptaw and Mattis Shoptaw.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Jay Geoghagan, a family member, Sherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation and Kindred Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Faith Baptist Church Missions, 109 Tanglewood Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118, Kindred Hospice, 10800 Financial Center Parkway, Ste 380, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211 or a place of your choice.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas with burial to follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
