Gaylon Smith Simpson, of Sherwood, went home to be with his Lord on January 9, 2020. Gaylon was born on August 31, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to the late Howard and Lorena Simpson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alice; son, Glenn; daughter, Rebecca; and four grandchildren, Justin, Henry, Allie, and Lexie.

Gaylon received his bachelors degree from Arkansas State University and his Masters in Business Administration from University of Arkansas. He retired from the Higher Education Division of Arkansas Finance and Administration.

Gaylon was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Sherwood and, through his lifetime, served the Lord in various positions.

Gaylon was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies were finding and restoring antiques, including knives and pens. He was an avid reader. He had a love for travel and new dining experiences. He had a great appreciation for cars, especially red ones.

A celebration of life will begin at 10:00AM on Monday, January 13 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd. Burial will be at 3:00PM at Spotts Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas.

Dear Alice and Family,
So sorry to hear about Gaylon. We only learned of his passing today,, Jan. 21. We would have come to the cemetery service had we known. It was always good to have you and your family visit at Little Springs when you came to see Howard and Lorena.
